Ok here's the scoop. I have 4 bars I need to combine into 2. A set of open data and a set of closed data. Within the open data, there are 2 categories making up the total bar, same with the closed data. What I need is multiple stacked bars per month and I have no idea how to make excel do that. anyone got any ideas. I did a search of google and it was fairly worthless. This applies to graphing my data not merging the cells or anything in the actual data sheet itself thanks |

Well, whenever you combine 2 cells with data in them you are going to lose the data in one of the cells. If it's numerical information in each of the cells, then I suggest using a formula to total them. Example: If you have data in cell A2 and cell B2 that you want to total then in cell C2 type =sum(a2:b2) I don't know if this helps or not, but with advice you get what you pay for. |
Sorry, I clarified above in my first post. I am trying to show 2 stacked columns side by side in a plot of my data. And all my research has turned up an extremely convoluted way of doing it |
Not comparing 2 or more stacked columns. There is a way to do it, its horribly convoluted and only looks correct. I have other trendlines on the chart as well as the data table and you lose all fedelity in the trends and in the data in short, its impossible |
Try not putting them together in side by side columns (in the spreadhseet, not the chart view)- can you do that? Just guessing here. If I have time I'll play with it tonight. |
