Ok, I know I will probably never hear the end of this, but I want to build my own AR and I have no idea where to start. I have two ar's now, a Del-ton and a DPMS, but just would feel better if I had one that I could call my own! So would the hive mind please guide me in the right direction. I don't want to spend a fortune but I am not cheap either, stay under 2k. Thanks!

You are looking for the AR technical discussions forum.  There are some smart guys over there, and listen to Jcrowl, he knows all.  GD will just confuse you...

There's a "build your own" tech forum with lots of good info.  Short answer, stripped lower, $69 from AIM.  Add lower parts kit, stock of your choice.  Pick an upper, and whatever sights/optic you like.  Pretty easy.

Thanks, this helps out a lot. Any particular brand? I hear a lot about spikes, any other I should look at?

After you build your lower look at http://ar15performance.com/ for a nice 6.8 SPC upper to branch out a little

Lowers are all about the same, as long as you avoid Hesse/Blackthorne.  Nothing wrong with the Spikes deal from AIM right now, I doubt you'll find a lower cheaper than that.
