| My 15 year son is receiving calls from an electric power provider about a bill that neither he or anyone in his family has anything to do with. They have been notify of this twice and yet they continue to call his phone everyday and this has been going on for more than a month. What can be done to stop these jackass's from harassing my son? |

Call your state's attorney general's office and report it. I had to do that after my dad had his stroke and went in to a nursing home. Call was made to AG, letters were sent by AG, calls stopped. |

You need to check to see if sons identity has been stolen. Run a credit check, then, after doing that, you will have a better idea of what will need to be done. Yep, this. Also, tell him to get the full name of the person that's calling and what company's behalf they are calling. |

I've been receiving calls from debt collectors looking for some girl named "Latasha" for several years now.
Apparently she used a random number on all her credit apps that she defaulted on that just so happens to be mine. That girl is in some deep shit, whoever she is. |
| Dealing with this shit right now. They will call my cell phone, I'll answer and all they will tell me is that it's a "personal business matter" and to please give them the last four of my social. I tell them I'm hanging up unless they give me more info or tell me who they are. They argue and just keep demanding my social. I hang up. Ten seconds later my house phone rings and it's the same asshole demanding my social while still refusing to tell me who they are. Boggles my mind that they think I'll be tricked by them calling my other number immediately after I just hung up on them. This happens at least three times every day. I only carry an AMEX plat card, so I have zero balance (charge card so no balance ever), and owe exactly zero dollars to anyone. These motherfuckers are relentless and aggressive. |

Doesn't do anything. Do you think the debt collection agency just has one phone or something? Quoted:

Most phones now you can block numbers. Problem solved Doesn't do anything. Do you think the debt collection agency just has one phone or something? Word. They just call from some random fake number. Half of the time the number shows up as something like 5-0318. Super annoying. |

FIFY, she sounds like a real class act My last work phone was a hand me down from the last guy. I kept getting collection calls on it for him. After telling them every day for a week that it was a company phone and the guy no longer worked there I finally lit into them. She said there was no reason to get nasty. I said apparently there was because they were assholes. The calls stopped ETA: My daughters # was on a football chat group's list. She had to block over 20 numbers. |

But you need to comply with the Code of Conduct, particularly Article 1, if you wish to continue enjoying posting in GD. Thanks, - T7 |

I moved into an apartment in SLC a number of years ago....only a 6 month lease, so it wasn't a great place, but it was good enough at the time. A very large eastern european guy in a puma track suit started showing up at my door demanding to talk to some other eastern european named guy, as he "owed him". Told him I just moved in and had no idea who he was talking about, but he definitely didn't live there anymore. Dude kept coming back every few days at random times. It took 15+ visits before the guy finally realized the Boris he was looking for, really didn't live there anymore. After the third time I started keeping a shotgun right next to the door in case he decided to do something stupid. Thankfully he never did. |

I get calls to for whomever had my # before me. That's what I hate about getting a new #. You get the other person's problems. I had that problem with Vonage. They suck and wanted me to pay to get the # changed. I went with Ooma premier instead. They have some great built in spam call blocking. |

Public utility? A call to the North Carolina Utilities Commission will clear that shit right up, no joke. All states have regulatory oversight for public utilities -- it's part of the price for companies being able to operate a legal monopoly on a service. Utility companies HATE dealing with regulators and will usually do whatever it takes to resolve a complaint. |

If they leave a contact number, call them repeatedly at that number and tell them to quit calling you. They will hang up on you. Call them back. They will hang up again. Keep calling until they say that they will stop calling you. Turn the tables on them. That's what I did. |

Download a dialer app and call those fuckers non-stop for a few days. Use several phones, if you need to. |
