Ok, so my pool is having some problems... When the pump kicks on, it won't move water unless I dump several cups into the leaf basket on the pump. Why? Is there an air leak in the system? What gives? Also, once I prime it, it spits out DE into the pool for a min or two after startup. Again, why? Thanks! |
| Sounds like a leak on the suction side of the pump. Had the same issue (although not the DE spit-up) and found it was a nearly invisible crack in the spin-on cover to the leaf basket. Does the pump discharge into the pool blow a lot of air into the pool on start-up? Mine did which helped diagnose the problem. I have a sand filter, so don't know if that had anything to do with not seeing any filter media on start-up. I do notice that those folks that have a DE filter spew (illegally) DE contaminated backflush water into the street, where as that doesn't occur with sand filter back flush. |

Below ground. Even during the middle of the cycle it pumps air into the pool. ETA: The set screws on the jandy valves were loose. That may have been contributing to it getting air in the system. Getting just water now, with no DE. We will see after it sits tonight and fires up in the morning. Oh, should I run the pump during the day or night? It says in the specs the water takes 3 hours to turn over. How long should I set the timer for? Thanks! |
