Going to make a HUGE pot of beef stew with the intention of canning it.
My question is what cheap cut of beef makes the best stew meat? |

Quoted: Quoted: They actually sell trimmings from steaks called "stew meat" at most grocery stores. Yeah but I ain't paying $5.29 per pound for scraps. +87 You can buy a chuck roast on sale and cut it yourself. I usually get several pounds, separate it into 1 lb batches and then vacuum seal them and freeze til I need the meat. |

Got a leg o' lamb while I was in Gallup. Cut it up in small cubes and cooked it real slow. I had to give the wife's kittah's some morsels to keep them at bay, though. Bastards were getting all riled up while I was cutting it. |

Why would one 'buy' meat for a stew? As we cut up our game animal we set aside scraps just for stew meat. Trim off the neck meat and trimings from steaks. We have NOT bought meat at a store for several year now. Would you like a trophy, medal or plaque? maybe a pat on the back and a sugar cookie |

Where the hell are you shopping my local grocery store sells stew meat for 1.69 a lb and a stew bone for 1.09 I shop at the cheap store around here. T-bones are about $10.00 per pound here. |
