I’ll be honest, I clicked the thread and checked the OPs state to be sure I’m not the guy. But I don’t drive mine every day nor come home at 1am in it.

Quoted: Last night I had to run to hardware store to get some parts for water heater. Drive there I stopped at redlight and my car started vibrating funny, a weird pulsating throbbing idle thing then i saw that it was making my change in the change cup rattle. I was confused for a second then OI realized it was the guy behind me at the light had his radio SUPER loud , like rattle MY change cup loud. I looked behind me and i look left and the guy on my left is also clearly annoyed by this guy in a 2000's era Yukon with clearly non standard radio BLASTING music at 845 PM in a mostly residential area, in rural Maine. I look behindme to the left (in mirror) and JUST behind IVE GOT 4000 WATTS OF CRAPPY MUSIC douchbag is a charger clearly also annoyed because he didnt pull up next to guy. Light turns green, i roll out and the douchbag rolls out but the charger hasnt moved (still mostly behind but parrallell to the radio guy). I notice that the chargers mirror looks wrong and OH it is a spotlight. Dude jsut blasted his radio annoyingly at a cop for 2 minutes of stoplight. LOL Yep cop hit lights and goes over a lane to get behind him. Made my night. I didnt see how it turned out but it was AWESOME> View Quote |

Quoted: I could sleep through a fucking hurricane. I can't relate. The only logical choice is to build a louder car and rev it up at 3am to assert dominance. View Quote So you bought a car that is designed to be obnoxiously loud and its other peoples' job to ignore it in their neighborhood? Do you also have a brodozer with a light bar that you use in town? Intentionally disturbing the quiet enjoyment of others is a douche move. |

Go down to a car dealer in the hood and buy the cheapest running car on the lot. Cut the muffler off, then go crank it up at the same time your neighbor fires up his mustang rev it in sync with him.

Quoted: I live in a relatively small neighborhood, last night my neighbor came home at 1:15AM with his mustang that is so loud it rattles my windows, this isn’t the first time he has done it and on most days he starts the thing up at 8am (almost every day including weekends) and will sit in the thing revving his fucking engine for about 20 minutes, then he shuts it off and goes inside. He’s not a bad dude, when a tree fell on my house he came up and helped clear it, but this is really beginning to effect my sleep. What would the hive mind do? I plan on having a talk with him next time I see him. View Quote Is it turbocharged or supercharged? A lot of performance guys do this because they are letting the car idle and cool down. I have a relative who does this but his is maybe 10 minutes on his turbo car. He does not rev it, just let’s it idle every time he comes back. He lets it idle for 3-5 min before taking off. |

What kind of shit ass walls are y’all’s houses built out of? As old and shitty as my house is, passing vehicles can be heard but not enough to actually bother me.

Quoted: My Mustang borders on "rude", but it's not too bad from idle to about 2k. I short shift and lug it a bit in the neighborhood, until I turn out on to the main drag. Then it's all "Unleash the hounds!" I'm aware that other people might not share my appreciation for an uncorked Coyote at full howl, so I keep it down while in residential neighborhoods. Join the club, where I live everyone has diesel trucks that are loud as shit and they warm them up for 20 minutes each day before driving them

I have engine break in to do on my long tube header dual 3 inch straight piped 331.
As soon as I get fuel lines done and radiator comes in I am gonna try to take a middle of the week day off. Will do break in during the middle of the day while everyone is away at work. Then try to drive it some place for exhaust to be built. |

A couple of options come to mind...
1: Deal with it, 8AM isn't that early, although if he's regularly driving through and revving it after 1AM that could get annoying 2: Have a friendly chat, maybe something like the following: "Hey neighbor, nice Mustang it sounds healthy. I've noticed that sometimes you come through after 1AM revving the engine fairly loudly which wakes me up and then I have a hard time getting back to sleep. Can you do me a favor and try to ease up when coming through in the early mornings like that? Also, is there a reason why you rev the car for 20 minutes at 8 AM and then shut it off every morning? Is it possible for you to do this after 9 AM instead?" |

Pretty neat seeing a top fuel mustang idling in the cul de sac.. |

I daily drive a 94 F150 w/ a 5.0 equipped with long tube headers, true dual 3" exhaust through Flowmaster 40s and 4" tips.
It sounds rowdy. But, it gets better mileage than stock, so I'm saving the planet. Deal |

I took this for a ride for the first time two weeks ago. Big roller cammed Pontiac.
15"x 3" glass packs right off the headers.... No go, too loud even for me. Version 2.0 30"x 2.5" glass packs, better but still brutal. Version 2.5 same mufflers with a couple 3" auger baffles in the turnouts, much better. No neighbors have come knocking yet. Attached File There's a kid down the street with a WRX that's more obnoxious than mine though. |

I was once that guy. Had a little hot rod with a high lift and duration camshaft that loped pretty good at idle, along with headers and exhaust. I was in my 20's going to college and working at a restaurant into the morning hours and renting a house in a regular neighborhood.
The car had a single subwoofer and 700 watt amp or so, it wasn't a boom car and I really didn't consider that it could be heard outside of the car. Well one day the neighbor comes over and asks if I could keep it down. I truly had no idea anyone could hear it. But sure enough the way the camshaft hit and the stereo, it droned/resonated pretty bad in the house. As it turned out, we all neighbors became pretty good friends, and we still talk 10 years after I moved out. So start by reaching out. They truly may not know they are being an asshole. That being said, Mustang owners are something else. Just last weekend I met up with my parents at a state campground. Nice place, not some riff raff woodstock place or anything. The campfire was winding down, we were ending our conversation around midnight or so. Along comes a newer Mustang, loping and idling and I thought to myself how nice it was that he was trying to stay quiet with that car as he left the campground. Well he rounds the corner, stops, floors it and dumps the clutch to do a big ass burnout in the campground and this thing had zero exhaust. Once he was done you could hear all the babies crying throughout the place after they had been woken up. Then he proceeds to race up and down the highway next to the campground. He must have had some kind of launch control or 2 step or something he was testing because it would be popping, then go down what sounded like the full 1/4 mile about 15 times back and forth. WTF possesses people to do that shit? I don't think the problem is we need more laws. I think the problem is people have no self respect and anonymity gives people no reason to feel embarrassed or ashamed for their actions. How to change this in society? No damn clue. More fathers would help. |

They were cheap for an axle dump. It sounds decent at idle. Gets compliments fairly frequently rolling into a gas station but the cam likely has more to do with that. It can set off every car alarm in an enclosed parking garage just by idling. But I would not put them on my 2015 and they definitely are not going on my 66. Spintechs likely going on my 66 with same side out or side exhaust oval cutout that ties to the cutout pipe. For my 2015 I may just do a resonator delete and see i that gives me enough sound. Otherwise I am looking for just a tad more. I really do not want a disgustingly loud popping Magnaflow/Corsa/Borla setup. My 2005 GT has Borlas and an Hpipe. That thing was loud at startup and would pop pretty good until warmed up. I generally drove it once a week and tried not to come home with it late at night. But yep. Had a weld break loose and you can hear a baffle flap around a bit when it is cold. Goes away as engine heats up. I am gonna get something else eventually but i do not want to draw too much more attention to myself in Ca. Offroad pipe saves my FOUR cats for smogs where I still manage to pass. It also protects me from my cats possibly getting stolen which is my excuse for if I get popped for loud exhaust. Car runs SO much better through the off road pipe it isnt even funny. |
