I have a 2-year old Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows XP and a solid state hard drive. Tonight it got knocked off my bed, and fell about 2 1/2 feet to the floor. Now when I try to power it up, it starts to load, then shuts off right before it gets to the Windows splash screen. There doesn't seem to be any external damage, the display and keyboard are in good shape. Is there anything I can do to try to salvage the stuff I had on the hard drive, or do I have an expensive paperweight?

Powering it up without the battery did the trick! I didn't even know I could power it up with the battery unplugged, but I just booted it in Safe Mode without a problem! Thanks for the help, now I just need to find another battery!
