I have a westell C90-611010-06 DSL modem and a WRT54G running dd-wrt
I also have a entone STB for cable. my problem is the I can't access the modems admin page to bridge it and let the linksys handle the DHCP and routing needs. I've tried every address I can think of but cant find it. comps will all connect but seem to have higher latency due to double NATing or will only assign private IPs and the STB will not connect. dd-wrt will assign an IP to the STB but STB says fails to connect to NTP time server and will only work with the modem/switch that came with it. I also can't access its admin page either |

I suspect that your issue is with the way the dd-wrt router is handling NAT. I've run into similar issues with devices/services running on my network (VPN would work on one router, but XBOX Live would not.....changed routers.....XBOX Live worked on a different router, but VPN would not). I would suggest trying a different router to see if that fixes it. If it does, then I'd investigate what you need to change in dd-wrt to make it work.
To answer a few of your questions here is the FAQ sheet for your modem my problem is the I can't access the modems admin page to bridge it and let the linksys handle the DHCP and routing needs.
1. Product Description This ADSL modem is a bridge device with a 10/100BaseT Ethernet port and a USB port. The Ethernet port is plug and play and does not require drivers. The USB port is compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. The USB drivers support Windows98se, Windows ME, Windows2000 and Windows XP. This bridge modem allows all traffic to pass through. I've tried every address I can think of but cant find it.
21. What is the IP address of my modem? This modem is not assigned an IP address. |
| ok so the westell is bridged and the linksys is doing its thing behind the innoband modem/switch which the STB is connected to. STB only works when connected to the Innoband modem. Im trying to simplify things by getting rid of the innoband. my thinking is having a 24 port switch plugged into the linksys plugged into the innoband modem/switch seems complicated. The linksys will only seem to work using its WAN port connected to any port on the innoband. Ive always thought hooking 2 routers together using the WAN ends up with devices on 2 different networks |

What is the purpose of the WRT54G in your configuration? Are you trying to run two seperate LAN's? Or are you trying to add 802.11 wireless by using the WRT54G? If so, let me know, because I had a similar issue and I'll let you know what worked for me. right now im using the WRT54G as a wi fi access point and switch.but im plan is to get rid of the innoband, bridge the westell if its not already allow the WRT54G to be the gateway/firewall/wifi/DHCP server. The only problem is the IPTV STB wont work behind that setup for unknown reasons the only thing the cable co will say is I have to use the innoband because it has a router built in so i can use the tv and computer

They're telling you that you have to use it because that's the router that they support in their network with the STB configurations. I would suggest ditching the Linksys and trying a different router. I had a similar issue when I was using Linksys routers and had to do some creative stuff by making a third router out of an old PC and a 4-port switch to get everything working. One of the Linksys quit working, so I got a new D-Link and it passes everything that I need it to, so I was able to simplify back down to one router again. The way I see it you have two choices:
