I posted this in the GD forum, they suggested I post it here: I have set up my home lan with computers that run Win98SE, Win2000 and Win XP. The XP and 2000 computers have no troubles accessing each other including the Win98. However, the Win98 computer brings up a password box when trying to do ANY access the Win2000 computers. There is no password set. The Win2000 computer have all access granted. Other than the Win2000 access, the Win98 computer has no problems. I used the XP computer to set up a disk to set up the Win98 computer. They have no problem accessing each other. Anybody know how I can get the Win98 computer to access files AND PRINTER on the Win2000 computers? Oh, yeah, I am using a Netgear wireless lan. The Win98 computer and one Win2000 computer are wireless. The XP and other Win2000 computer are hard wired. I called Netgear support and they were unable to help. |

For once, I can actually be helpful in this forum (I think). You have to set up an account on the 2000 machine for win98 one. Example, call the 2000 machine livingroom. Now, call the 98 one bedroom. Go to the 2000 computer and set up a user account for bedroom, and you must assign a password. Each time you you boot up the 98, you will need to enter this password. Art in KY |
