Meanwhile a Savage Stealth runs about $1400 in .338 Lapua and also uses detachable mags. Having shot the Savage I would want to see tiny groups from the Ruger to be interested.

Really? I was under the impression that Savage got you a pretty dang accurate rifle for the cost?

But after putting as many as you want down range....your 300wm will seem pretty tame the next time you pick it up.

The .338 LMI is quite a bit longer with big bollits seated way out... What box does it fit into? In the RPR, would it would be a single shot? How long of a tube does it have to be to see the benifits of the extra case space? RPR is only a 26".

I currently have an RPR 6.5 with a Gen 2 PST on it. I have a SiCo Omega 300 in jail. I have regular access to a 600 yard range at my club and there is a 1000M in the state that I can go to several times a year. I see that I have 3 options:

1. Do nothing.
2. Sell the 6.5, buy the .300WM and use the same scope and can.
3. Buy the LaPoopa, new glass and keep both.

I really just want a LaPoopa in my collection, but if I were to start doing competition (which I plan on) then I don't know that .338 is the best option.

By the way, I'm going to bet that anyone bashing on the RPR has just never shot one. Nothing about the rifle is crap. Okay, the stock is marginal. I plan to replace mine with a Magpul PRS but that's just a personal preference thing.

Can you get the 230 up to 3,200 FPS from a 300 rum? Crazy good BCs.

Above 3000 fps, Bergers .284 195g is G1 0.814.

7mm heavy bullets are where it's at.

338LM performance with less powder.

Even a 7mm-300 Win mag with heavy 7mm bullets gives the 338LM competition.

Ok. I think I've read that load here before somewhere, but didn't remember it. Maybe you've posted it elsewhere.

I wonder what box size will fit in the RPM (Ruger Precision Magnum... lol). Reaming a Lapua out might not work.

I've looked at his rifles before.

It will be interesting to see if the aftermarket barrel makers pick up the Magnum RPR, like they did with the short action RPR.

Places like LRI makes tons of barrels for the RPR.

The 338 Win is probably the most well balanced cartridge out there... Just like a big brother to 30-06.

Yah. Very efficient. Low recoil and blast. Kills everything really well. Can reach out if needed.

But if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS... and if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS... But if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS... and if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS... But if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS... and if you go up, you can get another 150 FPS...

... Then you end up a gun with a cartridge with huge blast, long tube, bench anchor that shoots $10 bills. The .338 LaPoopa and larger are examples of this.

How about the first one in 300 PRC from Proof then? Fixes the OAL issue, no stupid belt and load bullets loooong. I'm hoping Ruger releases one at SHOT in PRC, it is going to be the 6.5 Creedmoor of magnums after all.

If 1000 meters is your longest range that you have access to just keep your 6.5 cm and shoot the crap out of it. A Lapua won't do anything at that range a 6.5 wouldn't except hit a lot harder. No regular prs match will allow you to shoot Lapua unless it's ELR ( past 1000 yds), nor would you want to. That would knock your teeth out off a barricade, lol. Once you're shooting to 1200 yds + the win mag, Norma or Lapua start to make sense over a 6.5 cm.

if I am not mistaken these are a few hundred more and a bit heavier (I haven't looked up specs in a while)
