Has anyone else heard the new single yet?

As a lifelong AIC fan, I didn't hold out much hope for this album. I'm glad I wasn't excited over it, the single is fucking terrible.

AIC is dead. Long live AIC.

That's what I've been thinking. Layne's a tough act to follow. They may as well be dead. Jerry Cantrell could very easily continue with his solo work.

This song? I don't think it's too bad. Cantrell always sang a bit on their old stuff. I would like to see what the remaining members of AIC and Chris Cornell could do together. Maybe lightning could strike twice as Audioslave was an amazing band.

I'll agree with you as long as we confine that to the first two albums. They deserved to break up after the third. And Chris Cornell working with the members of AIC would be potentially epic.

Revelations wasn't terrible it just wasn't up to the expectations set forth by Audioslave and Out of Exile. When they released the spectacular Original Fire as the first single I had high hopes but the rest of the album was nowhere near as good.

Thats the one.

Cantrell was at his best singing melody with Staley. I don't think he is nearly as good on his own. Don't even get me started about Duvall

Cornell would be great, shame it didn't happen.   I would have also been happy with Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd. Before you knock em, check out some of the Youtube clips when he performed with AIC during the tsunami relief thing. Way better then Duvall

Havne't heard the new stuff yet.  I saw them open up for KISS on the first "farewell tour" in Lou, KY.   There were people wearing AIC shirts booing.  They basically had propped Layne up with his mic stand.  Worst. Show. Ever.  (and one of the best when KISS came out)

Heroin can have that effect on a guy.

I picked up the album today & it was worth it.

On some tracks Duvall sounds alot like like Layne, but on others he sounds different & as always Jerry did a good job harmonizing vocals & on guitar too. Overall I like it.

Just my opinion............

In my opinion there is NO replacing Layne, when he died that was the end of AIC as far as I am concerned.  He had such a unique voice and while Cantrell's vocals are great Staley's voice made the whole thing come together.  I like Cornell in Soundgarden and I thought he was OK in the first Audioslave album, but putting him in AIC would not be very good or at least it would not be AIC.  If they changed the name to something else it would be fine, but those are big shoes to fill.

I've been an AIC fan forever and IMO AIC without Layne isn't AIC much like the Dead without Jerry... Doors without Morrison...Blind Melon without Shannon Hoon...Sublime without Brad Nowell etc etc etc..

On a side note I will check out the new AIC I just don't expect to care for it.

Fuck it.  I have the new album and over all it fucking rocks.  Even the slower songs are incredible pieces of music.  I think the new dude steps in really well.  Rock the fuck on without the junkie!

Looking in View and Check My Brain both have a very classic chains sound to them. no, they're not the same without staley but they're still the chains.

The new AIC is just O.K. Pretty darn hard to catch lightning in a bottle once let alone twice.
