I had the good fortune to be in the Sunny state of North Carolina  this weekend (Back in SNOWY NH this morning) and thru a friend was introduced to land speed racer Lee Shierts (his record on a busa  WORLD RECORD 260.28863 MPH at MAXTON NC) I watched him Dyno a customers 08 usa that they had just mounted a power commander and a full exhaust system and no other mods. In 4 sperprate tuning pulls it Consistentlyhit 193 hp at the rear wheel. Like them or hate them that Busa  engine is hot

Just cause I may have not been Clear I met Lee at his shop in Charlotte not at Maxton

Great, you can hop up your Busa and head towards your death that much quicker.

Seriously, that is an ungodly amount of horsepower for something that weighs what probably 6-700 lbs?

They are pretty stout for sure, Kirk had some dyno numbers posted here a week or so ago....damn impressive !!

Gadson has already had the new 14 in the low 9's with pump gas, stock exhaust, and just lowered....Things are crazy------->>glad I own one..

Just for the record I ride a a 05 Busa running a Stage 1 Hahn turbo  making a HONEST 235 at the rear wheel. This is a very well manared machine that is is very easy to ride at low speed and has all the power that you could ask for when you want it. I think some folks have heard horror stories  and make presumptions. It doesn't matter whether it is a 100cc dirt bike or a 1400 cc HyperSport if a nut gets loose on the throttle you have a problem. I agree with Honda "Stupid Hurts" I will go one step further IT SHOULD!

If you wanted to see a Hayabusa that weighs 485 pounds, you'd probably have to remove the exhaust- and the wheels.  A stock '99 or '00 Hayabusa (unrestricted, with aluminum subframe) weighs about 550 pounds.  A stock '01 to '07 Hayabusa (restricted, with steel subframe) weighs a few pounds more.  I suspect that the '08 Hayabusa (restricted, steel subframe, stupid-heavy exhaust) will weigh a few pounds more than the '01 to '07 bike.

My '00 Hayabusa Superbike weighed about 475 pounds with the aluminum subframe, which was about 75 pounds lighter than when it was stock.  It had Sharkskinz race plastic, Marvic Penta II magnesium racing wheels, a 6-pound 4-into-1 titanium racing exhaust system, and everything removed that wasn't needed, including the engine's counter-balancer.

The 485 pound figure is what we commonly refer to in laymans terms as a "lie".  Lies are often told by people in the advertising business.  Lying about horsepower, torque, and weight, is common in motorcycle advertising.

Lee is a very cool guy.
He was on a WERA endurance team with a couple of my friends back in the early 90's.

We all went out to dinner after the WERA endurance races at SIR, he kept me and the wife entertained all night long.

I had to stop off at the Zuki dealer today (pick up replacement parts... thanx Uhwarrie! )

Someone had just bought a NEW Busa (1300), I was just seeing how much clearence it had (needs knobbie tires) and some 60+ yr old guy started talking to me about it.... It was HIS, for HIM!

SWEET!
I told him I 'd beat him on a 350c thumper....
Him=
Me=
30 miles out and back, road to Maxton, trail back. Told him I'd do it for Pink slips...
He wanted NONE of me!

IT was a sexy beast though! (The BUSA , not him! Ya wackos!)

At least he was smart enough to know it wouldn't be a fair fight.  Dual sports remind me of the old saying, "Jack of all trades but master of nothing".

What impressed e about him is that my friend brought me to his shop 2 hours after it closed , just so we coup peek thru the windows and Lee was there 2 hours after closing tuning a customers bike. He was also quite pleasent and chatted with me for a bit. A guy he didn't know from Adam and had little or no chance of selling me anything because of the distance I live from his shop
