D90.

Pretty dang awesome camera.

Can't wait to start playing with it!

What brand camera bag to get for it?

Ditto on the congrats...the D90 is nice, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of it. Personally I like Lowepro bags. The owner/buyer reviews over at B&H photo's website are REALLY helpful, and not just for the camera bags, but for everything else you know you'll be buying for it. .

Welcome to the D90 club...

I gave it to my dad to play with for a few hours while we were traveling.  He had no experience and took this shot which kinda surprised me...

I almost went with the D90, but ended up deciding on the D5000. Same IQ, fewer manual options. I am a photog newB, and have been very impressed with mine. I think you will love it.

Canon, Nikon...6 of one, half a dozen of the other!

Study and practice!  You'll love the D90.  Here are some shots of a combat pistol training class I did for the owners website last weekend.

D90
Nikkor 80-200mm F/2.8
Tokina 24-40 f/2.8
NIkkor 50mm f/1.8

The D90 can certainly perform.

The Shepard belongs to the owner of the property we used.  He's a beast!  But he's as gentle as any GSD I've ever seen.  :)
