Hey guys,

I just got done building a basic gaming rig for my brother in law.. Ever since we got everything up and running with Windows 7 Professional, It's been doing a complete reboot when gaming, or sitting idle.

It keeps asking to install a graphics adapter driver, 9.18.13.638, WDDN1.1 AND WDDN1.2 is the message we get. We already have the graphics card driver installed and yet Windows wants to install an older copy of the graphics adapter driver.

Here are the specs.
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 Mobo
AMD FX 4100 3.8 Quad Core Processor.
Corsair 8gm of ram
Gigabyte 1 gb PCI Express graphics card
1 Terabyte seagate HDD.

We're gonna attempt to flash the bios to a newer version tonight to see if this will cure the issue.

Nothing is overheating (that we know of)

What else should I look into?

It sounds like an overheating issue, but it could be anything. Have you checked event viewer and filtered the systems log for critical events?

Listen to this guy, event viewer is extremely helpful for diagnostics.

Install the graphics driver from the GPU manufacturer's website (nVidia or AMD) and hide the Windows Update driver.

Random resets usually indicate a power supply or memory problem.  Check your RAM with Memtest86.  If your power supply is a chintsy no-name that came free with your case, buy a quality replacement (Silverstone, Seasonic, Enermax, Thermaltake, etc.) in the 600+ watt range.
