Hey Guys,
I've been lurking the forum for a while now, and finally decided to join as I have a question, I was hoping some of yall could answer. First of I'm a former USMC grunt, did tours in Iraq, and shot and M16 the whole time, as well as m81mm mortar sysyem. I could shoot myself for waiting this long to obtain an AR or build mine, with the possibility AWB coming we all know prices are through the roof. My question is, do I jump out there and pay these through the nose prices? or should I wait it out? I own no assualt rifles right now,and would like to atleast own one beofre they get banned, I don't have endless funds. I've looked all over the internet all week long trying to locate one at a price I can afford, or parts I could afford to build one. So my question is...do I wait? or jump out there? Also is there any other assualt rifles you'd reccomend? I've been looking at a couple of c93s simple becuase they aren't quiet as high right now. Any info would be appreciated! |

Instead of trying to buy a complete rifle right now, try piecing one together. You may be able to buy the pieces parts a bit cheaper. Use some of the vendors here, if they are out of parts, get on the mailing list to alert you when they have the needed parts back in stock. And thanks for your service, even if you were a Marine.
Former 82nd Abn here, so you have to get a little ribbing. Normally I would agree, but nobody has parts and cetain parts are gonna be hard to get (like BCG's) even after awhile. Also, what I'm hearing is the manufacturers are going to be using their parts on complete rifles, complete uppers or complete lowers 1st and spare parts secondary. I think he will have more luck finding a complete rifle once things cool off a bit. |

If you want one and don't want to spend the current crazy prices I suggest getting on as many notifications lists as possible and creating accounts for faster check out. Hope you also have a smart phone and card number memorized because they'll last mere minutes before selling out. This would be your best bet. Just yesterday Palmetto State Armory had stripped lowers in stock for $119. Good luck and welcome aboard!
ETA Browse the industry section for places to get on notification lists. For everything other than the lower I suggest Bravo Company. They have great lowers as well but were nearly impossible to get even before all of this started. |

I would just hold off until things cool off! the media is going to spend a couple of more months on this issue until the vote in Congress on gun control maybe in March after Bidden "independent" report comes out.
Everyone is not thinking straight and just buy anything at any cost just to get their hands on any AR or AK because they fear that it going to be banned. Chances are that not going to happen. But this is an emotional time right now. It up to you? How bad do you want one; and how do you feel the chances of it being banned in Congress? I do not think that going to happen. But I have ARs already so I not under any pressure to buy one as you are. Anyways, local dealers in my area are not taken orders until the beginning of next year. I would wait till dealers get re-stocked before I would go buying; prices will be a lot cheaper and much better selection. |

First off ...Thank you for your service. I too served 21 years and am proud of it. Secondly...please////never make reference to shooting yourself...I know...figure of speah, right? NOT here.
Thirdly...please refrain from the liberals loose term of definition of Assault weapon....I assume what you are asking about is a modern sporting rifle in the Semi-Auto variety....please call it an AR-15 then.
I'll jump down off the soap box now. |
