Ummm, Michael Biehn is one of those great unsung actors along with Keith Carradine and Powers Booth (and Robert Duvall, til he suddenly - 20 yrs after he started acting - became an overnight star!), but I'm not sure about this. It kinda looks like the standard evil postapocalyptic .gov tripe Hollyweird regurgitates periodically.
The whole being trapped underground scenario looks pretty good though. |

Here's the review over at Bloody Disgusting.
From the review... "The Divide is a terrifying and bleak vision of the future whose performances and images will stick with you for days after you watch it. Gens’ direction and Laurent Barès cinematography create a moody, claustrophobic atmosphere that never feels stale despite its closed-quarters setting. The tone is vile and the characters devolve into sickening states of being, but the reality-based approach to Gens’ end of days makes for one of the best apocalyptic tales in quite a while." Score: 8 / 10 |

So... Nuke blows up city, some people lock themselves in a basement and Lord of the Flies ensues. That's pretty much it. I will save my money. On top of that, I'll save my 90 minutes or so when it's available as a torrent or whatnot. Looks utterly forgettable. |

Quoted: It looks interesting but someone has got to tell Hollywood writer's that most of the time groups like this don't fall apart and that people can be very noble in adversity. Even the Donner Party didn't go all Shining they mostly just died. Morality plays seem to always attempt to show that modern, western societies are a facade and when stripped away we return to the base, selfish, violent animals we are...Lord of the Flies, etc. Except as you note that doesn't usually happen. Also, interestingly, these morality plays seldom show that some cultures are already at that point. That's why I find them boring, it's usually just a contrived movie script to reinforce someone's negative views of modern culture. |

I take it Charlie Sheen and Bill Paxton aren't far behind then.

Uh, he was nominated for academy awards in 1973, 1980, 1981, won best actor 1983, nominated again in 1998, and 1999. I think he's pretty well much sung. Keith Carradine and Powers Boothe both have Emmy awards from the early 1980's as well. |
