You guys can make fun of my gun all you want. I think it looks badass and that's all that matters to me. The Springfield Pro is how a real 1911 should look. Anyway, I go to the range after the ceasefire and couldn't post my target, so I unpack my TLE/RL II and Pro. There's some pretty friendly people here. They go looking around and see my 1911's. "Wow, whatcha got there?" I say, "Springfield Pro." I load up my mags with match ammo, because I want to look cool and put all my shots through one hole. ![]() The exact opposite happened. My first shot was a failure to eject. The round landed low and left. I clear it and shoot again. Same thing. Bullet hole on top of the other, low and left only this time I had a failure to feed. By this time I get it. My gun is brand new and I'm using underpowered, semi wadcutter match ammo. This gun obviously doesn't like this kind of ammo. I empty my mag and fill it with ball. Shots are still low. I start thinking maybe my grip is wrong, so I mess around with my grip a little and end up shooting all over the place. I give up, load up my Kimber, and easily shoot out the center. The only part of the target that didn't have any bullet holes. Now don't get me wrong, this is a nice gun that shoots very good groups. Now that it is broken in, it shoots very well. I came to the conclusion that the sights are off, which is too easy. It's hard to see in the picture, but now that I look closer, the rear sight is noticeably off center. I think I'm going to find a mallet and punch and see if I can fix it. But first I'm going to have a several beers to help me relax. That sounds like a good idea.

Ha Ha he said "Clip". (And the rest is even more ludicrous) Are your groups all over the place or decent group but away from point of aim? If all over the place and consistently all over the place, find a buddy and a pistol rest and try again with another kind of ammo. if still shitty, send the pistol to me for disposal. Sounds like it isn't locking up tight and/or consistently shot to shot. That's a bad pistol. If off same place, look up any of several websites, because that's a physical issue with the pull that can be corrected. That's a good pistol but bad trigger pull. |
| From the picture, it's clear your front sight is too tall. Springfield should be able to send you a shorter one, tap the rear sight over a tad and you should be able to get right on. You might want to remove the burr on the front of your rear sight before you get too involved though. Also, the blood dripping off your grip panels isn't very conducive to a firm grip, oven cleaner removes blood residue pretty well. Nice gun. |
what part of your finger is touching the trigger? it should be the same part that touches the keys on your keyboard, not the first joint/knuckle. |
