I just got a BFG asylum GEFORCE FX 5900 video card. It came with Call of Duty free. THIS CARD FREAKING ROCKS!!!!!!! I have nothing to throw at it that this card can't smoke. I am now running my games at 1600X1200, 32m colors, with anti-aliasing, and no sweat at all. Unreal 2, max payne 2, call of duty all rock. These are the first games I played in years If you need a new vid card, get one of these. $200. and worth every penny! TXL (Oh, its running on me AMD 3ghz/512 MB machine I built as well) |

Quoted: Let me know if it overheats or does anything strange on you. I have a Radeon 9700 that gets a bit freaky when I am doing some serious rendering and am thinking about trying another card. Ive got the same card you do and its pissing me off as well. It doesnt seem to perform nearly as well as it should considering its specs either. |

I got the same card last week. It's quite an improvement from my old GF2 MX400! [BD] I did a lot of research, almost got the ATI 9600XT, but the 5900 was smoking it in all the tests I saw. I got mine for $184 shipped but it didn't come with CoD. My processor is still in need of an upgrade (2ghz P4 with 512MB PC800 RDRAM), but this card is awesome. It amazing to go back and play old games to see what type of details you miss out on with a crappy card. Now I bump up the resolution and turn on the eye candy features. Next stop, new sound card. |

Quoted: I expect it will kick ass with doom3 as well. I am holding off on buying a new card for this reason. While demos of Doom 3 have been shown to run ok with the 5900 ultra, the DX9 pixel shader(Doom 3 is supposed to rely heavily on pixel shaders) benchmarks show that the 9800Pro ATI just smacks the 5900 ultra silly http://www.devhardware.com/c/a/Video-Cards/ABIT-Suliro-FX5900/5/ For $200.00 you did good though. A nice card and worlds better than $600.00 for an Obsidian dual voodoo2 card and $300.00 for Geforce4 card that I paid. When the time comes I will probably be stupid and spend another $500.00 on a new video card. |

Quoted: Anybody know how hard it is to replace a video card on a laptop? As far as upgrading: Next to impossible(actually I would say impossible but you never know about some creative type guys). Replacing a defective one would require a trip to the shop. Alienware and Voodoo are making laptops that have the videocard placed so that you can swap them out with newer models provided the archititecture does not change too much. Both laptops cost serious bucks though. |

Quoted: Whats your system specs? (processor, board, system mem...) I have the asus a7n8x deluxe MB (newegg.com)w/ the amd2500 ghz, oc'd to make it a 3ghz. 512 mb pc2700 kingston mem. The bfg asylum 5900 (non ultra) w/ 128 mb vid card. into a wireless router, w/ dsl. use onboard sound (dolby5.1), with only the regular 2 speakers. It freaking rocks. TXL |
