| For a couple of weeks I have been mentioning to my wife I wanted a new .357 Magnum. She never said anything but I knew she was hearing me. So yesterday I got on the phone calling around all the gun stores in Danville, VA looking for a Smith & Wesson Model 686 revolver. I got several prices from $750 to $800. The next place I called the price was $700 out the door & it was in stock. So I told the guy to hang on a second while I checked with the wife. She said that I didn't need to ask her if I could get it. She told me without asking the price to buy it! So this afternoon I'm going to Danville & pick up my new baby! As for the wife, I think I will keep her. And carry her to Outback to eat tonight! |

Quoted: congrats On the wife and the revolver You do know that revolvers are just for women and inexperienced shooters right? You do know that's quite possibly the stupidest thing that will be posted today, maybe this week. I suggest you google Jerry Miculek and then get back to us. |

Take it easy on speedfreak955. I know he's just joking. Or I hope he is. If he's not, I know where you live.
I got my gun yesterday. From Raymond Guns & Supplies. He on 58 west of Danville across from Westover Baptist Church, phone# 434-822-0722. Best prices I have ever seen at any gun store! He's in the basement of his house & has a pretty good selection. He told me on the phone the gun was a S&W 686, 6 shot. All the 686's & 686 Plus's on S&W's site have black synthetic grips. I opened the box on my gun & the first thing I saw was it had the most beautiful set of wood grips I have ever seen. And it was the 7 shot 686 Plus. Now this is what he told me. These are his words exactly, he said it was a S&W Performance Center Special Edition. I'm going to call S&W next week & see if he is correct. But anyway it is a beautiful revolver. I don't know now if I'm going to shoot it or put it up for my youngest daughters kid, when she has one. But the best thing about it, to get the gun I only had to buy my wife a new stove for the kitchen. That's what she ask for! I get a new gun & get to eat also! And after I finished buying the gun, I ask a price on a blue 6 1/2" Model 29. He qouted me $850.00 out the door. And the best part, my wife said YES!!!!! And she doesn't want anything else! Is she great or what? And no, none of you can have her! |

I talked to a guy at S&W yesterday. I told him what my gun looked like & the SN. He ask if I were sitting down. I thought he was joking. He wasn't. He told me my gun was a S&W 686 Plus Special Edition. It has highly polished hand checkered Rosewood grips, the gun is polished more than a normal 686 Plus, has a trigger job done by the Performance Center and is 1 of 704 built for the year, built on 8/31/10. He said I was a very lucky person & he sounded as happy about it as I was. Almost. The first thing I did was to take pics of it(on 35mm) & then went to the bank to put it in my saftey deposit box. It will never be fired as long as I live. I locked the gun so the cylinder wouldn't get scratched. Someday it will go to my youngest daughter. Also, the guy at S&W said this gun was better than having gold. So maybe my luck is changing!
I ordered a Model 29 & I'm picking that up Saturday. |
