I just purchased a new 27" monitor. It's an IPS LED and looks great (took some tweaking, plus different monitors always look so different than the old). My old monitor was a 23.6" (viewable) LCD.
Both previous and new monitor are 1920x1080 (16:9). I didn't want a 2K or 4K because too many things are still designed for 1080p and the prices are that good IMO compared to larger 1080s. Anyhow, I went with IPS because I wanted the photography style viewing screen, as opposed to gaming. Only game I plan on installing on my new build is flight sim, and that is usually a 30 FPS game. Both monitors have a refresh rate of 5ms/60hz. Main difference is obviously screen size and now HMDI, as old monitor was DVI-D. My question, it does seems to take a bit longer to load high resolution photos now. Not much, but noticeable. Is that to be expected? I would have expected that on a 2K or 4K, but not the same resolution despite larger viewing area. GPU is GTX970 and computer is new build, plenty fast. Thanks... |
