| In my are we've been recieving multiple phone calls about extending our factory auto warranties. It's the same message every time, a second and final notice of a possible lapse in coverage. My stepdaughter and her friends at school (7th graders) are getting these calls on their cell phones. I answered once and when I asked what service center they hung up. Anyone else getting these calls? Is it an attempt to get a credit card number or what? |

Mostly for GM cars which leads me to believe they or someone connected to GM is selling our names. But I have been able to call back several of the numbers and asked to speak to a super at which point they freak out and hang up. SCAM |

ive been getting those for months "THIS IS YOUR SECOND WARNING....BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" just hang up yup, and the thing is they are targeting CELL PHONES. Which is bullshit They come in spurts I'll get like 5 of them in a span of 3 days, annoying as fuck. I'm 99% sure they are using spoofed caller id's because it always is a different number the last few I've got have had country codes from african countries. I'm guessing they are out of the country I would think the govt would put them in jail by now otherwise.......how fucking hard can it be to find these people? |

I was getting those for a while and I drive a 91 f-150.... it has been out of warranty for along time.
After hanging up on them many times, I finally called back and got a recording that said to press 1 if you wanted off the list. I did it and I think I may have gotten 1 call since then. Edit: if it has a country code, dont do it. But if its a US number its worth a try. |
| I have not gotten any calls, but we get a letter in the mail about once a week from various places saying "Your Warranty...blah,blah,blah...". The funny thing is half of them come for my wife's car that is in her name and I had absolutely nothing to do with, but to my attention or visa versa. The other half come for vehicles that we haven't had in years. We just got one yesterday for a car that my wife purchased just a couple months ago with a ten year, 100,000 mile, everything covered warranty saying it was almost up. Morons. Scammola unless it's directly from your dealer/automaker would be my guess. |

I was getting those calls too, from a Texas area code. I just let them go to answering machine, but they hung up automatically.
I finally answered, and as soon as the human answered, I stated to say "Do not call list"..... they hung up after the words "Do Not"..... They are fast buggers, heheh. I re-did my do not call registrations, and I reported them. |

They aren't targeting cell phones, they are just war dialing every number in the country with forged caller ID. Much like spam, requesting to be taken off their list is only going to get your number marked as being valid. Just ignore them or report them. Just put "this is your second notice" into google and you will see it is a national problem that has been going on for months. |
