I'm in the same boat as you...  From what I've heard, remember your ABC's...

Armalite
Bushmaster
Colt

And don't forget about Rock River Arms.

Welcome aboard!  Hope you have enjoyed the site so far!

Now you are hooked forever! HA HA HA!

Get yourself a Bushmaster.  They have several different configs, and the quality and service can't be beat.

I personally have a XM15 A3 in 20".  I love it!

Welcome, welcome, welcome! [beer]

Before you plunk down $$, spend the time reading up on various models, manufacturers and other assorted "bells and whistles".

Try the Rifles... forum here.

Read and learn.

Personally, as far as manufacturers, Bushmaster is a solid choice, but others have their equally -good favorites as well. As far as models,  again that's based on your preferences (barrel, upper configuration, etc.)

Good luck and again - welcome. [beer]

ditto that!!!!!

would also like to add a plug for one of our very own members.  Cavalry Arms makes some great stuff.  just recently got a lower from them.  beautiful.

but it gets better.  their service is unbeatable.  fiance couldn't get an upper to properly mate with the lower (pin holes wouldn't align or something like that, i wouldn't know as he won't let me play with it).  called up shawn and he said we could either send it back or fix it ourselves.  he then told us how to fix it ourselves (since that was our choice).

but it gets better.  if, in trying to fix it, we frap it up (god forbid!), we can send it back and he'll replace it because he said that it shouldn't have been a problem in the first place.

now if that ain't service i don't know what is.  plus, he's a great guy and a member here.

The truth is that any of the major brands will work great.  Just check them all out, and get the one that seems the best deal to you.

I also started with a 20" Bushmaster. Great firearm! I just built a J&T Mock M4 kit on a RRA lower. Works great and I couldn't have done it without all the information on this website. But a warning... this is very addictive. Have fun! [:D]

Another vote for COLT (some non mil-spec parts but a quality gun.)  Read the troubleshooting type posts AND watch out for rifles that an unknown source assembled such as a name-brand lower with a no-name upper. Definetly get a warranty because you may very well need it.I like the accuracy of my BUSHY better than my COLT but my BUSHY jams and doesn't like to throw emptys out of the gun---alot of people rant and rave about BM but the one I got brand new is a total POS and I am very disapointed. If I was gonna buy another AR I'd probable take a look at ARMALITE and try to find out what everyone is shooting without hassles.

Thanks for all the helpful reply's.

I have decided to go with the Bushmaster XM15 E2S 20in Barrel Rifle.

I will probably by a Colt in the future.

Oh, my username is the Slim Pickens character from 1941.
