So,

With the invasion imminent, what do you plan to do about the night??

Hole up and wait for the daytime, or are you prepared.  Do you think NV is an essential item to have or would you spend the excess money on food and ammo?

Thoughts....

I will be enjoying my stay in whatever barracaded area I've deemed "home" after Z-day.  The only time I will leave will be during the day, and only for a short period of time (MAX of a few hours) to gather supplies.  Once all supplies are exhausted in the area, I will probably hunt, or move.  If I decide to move, I will do so over the period of weeks or months, and only travel during the day, if possible.

If a horde of Zombies decide to attack during hours of darkness, I will use flashlights.  Nightvision is too expensive, and the quality of image is too low (deteriorating your efficiency) to bother with.  Even with the high quality night vision, Gen 3 for example, you've still got to ask yourself:  Mounted on the weapon or free-hand carry?  If it's mounted on your weapon, you're restricted with how you can use it, and probably don't want to connect and reconnect it every night.  If it's mounted on your head or in your hand, it'll be hard to get the proper line with your sights on your weapon.  Either way, you're restricted.

Spend your money on supplies, and flashlights.  Flashlights are much cheaper, so you can have one for free carry, one mounted, and hundreds more for the price of nightvision monoculars.  Get a flood light, flashlight, weaponlight, and call it good.

I agree completely. Unless your gonna get generation 3 googles and mount them on your head/helmet and also have a well sited in PEQ2 on you rifle you better off with flashlights. With the cost of those two items you could have more flashlights/batteries than you will ever need in a lifetime.

Ever try making a long range shot late at night with a generation 1 or 2?  Especially when aiming for a particular point, like a.... head?  It's not the easiest, I blame it on optical clarity, not my shot.

You sir are correct!   gen 1 and 2 are not very clear,  go with gen 3 and even gen 4.  I will add that if you have gen 1 and gen 2 ensure to use a laser to assist with aiming
