Title says it all. Planning on picking on up tommorow afternoon. I have been looking through the user reviews, and consumer reviews and it seems to have the best overrall ratings. Is there any other brands that would be better than the iPod Mini?

(I don't want a regular sized iPod or the one that has no display)

I own a full size, but I've played with a few minis, they are really great, enjoy yours.

As far as cost and performance you can do much better.

As far as looks and status you can't.

I had a three year old Archos Jukebox which was 20 Gb - it ran off of USB2, could record with it's built-in microphone or it's built-in analog to digital converter (just plug it into an RCA jack set and start recording directly to MP3), it ran off of AA batteries for like ever, it was build like a brick shit house rugged, and was plug-n-play with any Windows machine as both a music source and a hard drive.

My iPod is smaller, requires external software to work as a music player, has no inputs other than firewire/usb and that requires a special plug.

I won the iPod at a Christmas party and sold my Jukebox before I really knew how poorly the iPod worked.

iPods rock.  My wife has a mini and she loves it.  I'm thinking about a 20GB for myself.

For the most bang for the buck, the full size (20GB) one is better.  Besides the greater capacity it comes with a Firewire cable and and an AC adapter.   The AC adapter alone costs $29 separately.  If size is a critical issue then the mini will serve you well.  Get the 6GB model if you can swing it.

ETA:
GET A CARRYING CASE!  It will pay off the first time you drop it.  The Mini Shock cases from Agent 18 seem to provide the most protection for everyday use.  That's what my wife uses and it's already saved it twice.

I bought a thick silicone carrying case that slips over the iPod today also. I can't really use the belt clip as well with it on, but I'll keep this one.

The only reason I went with the mini was size over the regular iPod, and 4 GB is plenty for me.

I love my mini..
Was a gift from the office (top performers got a bone)
I don't understand all the complaints about the interface, seems totally intuitive to me.
Fantastic battery life and capacity.
Only weakness is the stock headphones.
