I'm not a much of a metal snob when it comes to blades. I look for certain specs/attributes but in a harder use blade something that holds a good edge, can be sharpened easily, and resists rust without much care usually works for me. When looking at Nitro-V, what kind of performance does that yield in a fixed blade? Thanks!

It showed rust on the edge, sitting a few months in the kydex sheath without ever being carried. |

| Have more than one knife with Nitro-V for the blade from different makers, custom and mass produced, fixed blade and folders. Heat treat can affect how well it resists rusting, if done right it is no different than any other stainless steel. As far as performance, best way to describe it is to think of it as stainless 1095. It's easy to sharpen, but will needed to honed more often than S30V or S35VN. So if you want something you can sharpen easier than many stainless steels, say out in the field, it is worth looking at for your use as a fixed blade. |
