I just bought a new printer, and it came in the mail today. It's a Canon Pixma iP6700D, and I have been looking foreward to openeing the box when I got home and printing some pics. welllll. I finally got off work opened the box, and no fing cable. There was a power cord, but no USB cable. I thought well maybe it's wireless. No it uses the cable. Now I gots to go all the way across town and buy a cable. Anyone experience this with any other canon printers??? I just figure as much as it cost they could slip one in there. O.K. I'm done now |

Printers don't come with the printer data cable; never have. I've bought a couple of dozen printers, starting with my first back in 1991: an HP LaserJet IIP+ (that still works today). I've bought HP, Epson, and Canon inkjets and other LaserJets and not one has ever come with a cable. Fortunately, modern printers use standard, common USB cables, or better, ethernet cables. -Troy |
I couldn't read the FUCKING BOX because I bought it on FUCKING LINE.

Yep, I irritated by that, too. The previous printer I purchased did come with a cable. Oh well, live and learn. |
Some Cannons do come with a cable, but it is a short cable. It's not even three feet long. Most printers do not. USB cables are range in price and length. Most retail places like Worst Buy or Office Hax will cornhole you on price. Buy them on line for much, much less and always have an extra or two. Of course you could go wireless... |

I remember my parents buying my brother a printer in about 1982. No cable. He bought another printer in about 1989. No cable. I bought a printer in 1996. No cable. Bought another one in 1999. No cable. Another one in 2005. No cable. But I *am* still using the cable I bought in 1996. Pattern? ETA: Buy your cable from www.tigerdirect.com, www.newegg.com, www.zipzoomfly.com, or maybe even amazon.com or cablestogo.com. As someone else posted, you don't need the gold plated, oxygen free copper crimped and soldered hand assembled kevlar clad ceramic butter flavored cables they sell at Staples/Officemax/Bbuy/etc. You need a $6.99 12 foot USB printer cable.
