Have your ever been looked at funny cause you dont have the latest tactical vests, or dont have a tinfoil hat by a guy you shoot with?
Or maybe you make a couple bucks more than someone and dont blow it on training or guns or whatever?
I got a guy I know that has had an axe to grind with me for almost a year at our club and I still am not sure why, I think I generally get along with other shooters, but maybe it could be something else.
I have spent $ to have a couple  nice guns to shoot in matches but not really anymore than average. And I dont exactly run the table if ya know what I mean, I just like to shoot. I mean if someone sends you an email telling you your not worthy and tactial enough because you dont devote your life to a particular sport what the fuck do you do? Hell I tried to apolgize for it(whatever IT was) a few times and asked what I had done but it seemed to make the squirll even madder. It ende up with a FU mail by me and a reply I never read from said squirrel last year, but today I got a shitty vibe from the dick at club event and mailed him a flame cause he still acts like a dick.  I also got the feeling from his click, however they are the minority and I had a good day seeing last years shooters.  I know lot of the other shooters think the guy is a jagoff but let it ride, god knows I tried.
How do you deal with assholes at your club peacefully????

Print up all the email's and document anything you can including statements from other members that have witnessed or had similar experience and turn it all over to whoever owns/runs the club.

... I'm the dichotomy of your post. I have minimal tactical skills compared to the status quo regulars at my local ranges. I do however, have boatloads of $ invested in the hardware.

... Damn, I need to climb a mountain and get some Zen I suppose.

"Squirrel"? That was a big part of your post. Hell if it's one of those frugals folks, I'd just ignore it. Most of them are so full of themselves they could shoot each other and call it a victory.

Don't worry about it... you can hit 3" at 100 yards right? No problem, that's all you really need.

Shooting AND hiking? Damn, I gotta get in for this...

Weekend stuff? Full week? Hardcore packing?

Man, you gotta let me know more about this.

I get shit from some of the people I shoot with because I am too "tactical".

Race Gun gear has never appealed to me, and using equipment I think is practical with real world applications makes it more interesting/fun for me.

I'm not there to win either, just to improve my own skills, use it for training, and have fun.

Can't make everyone happy I guess.  I never understand why people get angry because you don't want to practice/play the same way they do.

To clarify my position...

How many of us will actually use any kind of "tactical" training? If worse came to worse, the people in demand would be those who could take long range shots to eliminate high-priority targets before hostile action even started. If it was decided that you/your group was a threat... you have no fucking chance against an apache, period.

So... tactical crap??? Sure, it'll help you if some jackass invades your home. Other than that, I see little use.

Point for both of us there. Yes, they fought well. And, they had little to no training.

My point is this: when it comes down to the dirt, you'll do what you have to. Previous "tactical" training will most likely fall by the wayside.

Yes, you can beat an apache, but does your "tactical" training prepare you for that?

It's great for home defense situations, but don't make the mistake of thinking you will be ready for any kind of war.

And no, I'm not one to preach, I'm not really ready for that either... who is?

Anyway, this is all off topic, so I give way to the original point.
Don't worry about what someone else says, only you can tell if you are good enough and ready.

Whoever can put rounds on target the first, with precision, and at a distance (if neccessary will be the winner).

It's good to be versed in skills with mulitple weapons for multiple purposes...which is one reason I like shooting 3 Gun competion.  some stages are 300-600 yard shots, some are CQB, sometimes even shooting out of moving vehicles.

All training is valuable...as Robert Heinlein said, "Specialization is for Insects."

I definitely have to agree with that. ANY training is much better than nothing! And the multiple disciplines involved with 3 gun courses is certainly valuable.

I still say that should war ever reach our soil (God forbid it) there will be way to many people who think their pistol class makes them "tactical warriors". They are in for a very rude awakening.

Hell, I actually have very little "training", but I know the sound of rifle bullets just over my head... and that gives me a little advantage, in a way. I know how I will respond, I don't freeze up, I get small and look for a way to survive. Until you've heard that... you can't really say what you will do, tactical shit be damned. In fact, the old saying about "no plan ever survives the first contact" is so very true.

Basically... plan and train all you want, any training is better than none, but unless you practice it enough to make it a muscle memory, don't count on it.

I'm just tired of all the "tactical" crap, lol.

Edit: Holy hell, I took this WAY off topic. Damn beer, uh...lol...

I did have one guy that used to give me shit all the time. He had taken a couple pistol courses and he could shoot pretty good. He pretty much shut up though, when I put my deer rifle against his pistol at 50 yards (he readily agreed to that range)... we had 10 seconds to hit bull as many times as possible. His 15 shot Beretta against my 5 shot Remington 700... I won. You just need to find a way to beat this guy. If you can't, big deal, it's not a life ending event. Bring a friend down there to outshoot his ass, strength in numbers. There is ALWAYS someone better, he just needs to remember that little truth.

No you really don't, the way the US military looks at it, if the Russians did it one way we would try to not do it that way.  You cannot compare most foriegn militaries with the US military.
