All these behaviours- leaping, kicking etc. are derived from actions the horses must take in warfare. They are taught to rear up on command, for example, to protect their riders from massed musket fire.

After watching the "Old stars dance to Uptown Funk" in some other thread, I began looking at some of the old movies and the actors.  I found the Nicholas Brothers, who may have been the greatest tap dancers in history.  Their performance "Jumpin Jive" from Stormy Weather was considered by Fred Astaire to be the greatest dancing ever captured on film.  Supposedly it was unrehearsed and done in one take, uncut!

Darn, impressive on its own.  Unbelievably impressive if it was unrehearsed.  The jumping over each other on the stairs at the 4m mark is insane!

Pretty amazing, though.

Volcanic lightning is an electrical discharge caused by a volcanic eruption, rather than from an ordinary thunderstorm.
Volcanic lightning arises from colliding, fragmenting particles of volcanic ash, which generate static electricity within the volcanic plume.
Sergio Tapiro Fotografa / Photography

This impressive photograph of the Colima Fire Volcano (3850 m high) was captured by Mexican photographer Sergio Tapiro Velasco on the night of December 13, 2015 after a long wait. Tapiro began taking the first shots from 7:30 at night and obtained this image four hours later from a safe position located 12 km from the volcano. The image shows the volcano expelling incandescent material and a large ash column. One of the most conspicuous elements is the 600 meter long bright beam that forms from the right side. Lightning is part of the phenomenon known as a dirty storm that occurs when mineral particles expelled by the volcano collide with each other causing electrical discharges. The photographer captured his image with a Canon EOS 6D camera, at a shutter speed of 8, a 2.8 aperture and an ISO ( sensitivity to light) of 3200. The same volcano contributed to the success of the photo, says Tapiro, as " The beam worked like a giant flash ".
