I just want to take a minute to brag on my buddy.
When I first got in K-9 I had a career goal of 100 apprehensions for my dog. Last week he got number 100. Long story short : Call out from a surrounding agency that had a car chase with a parole violator. Bad guy bailed out and ran into a wooded area. We tracked him a few hundred yards and found him completely submerged in a creek breathing through a bag. It was the closest I have ever come to a shark attack. 
Before I go taking any credit, I would like to point out that I don't ever do anything. I just follow the brown hole in front of me. Here's to you buddy.  Thanks for all the memories.

Seriously, it makes my day to see yall show up on my scenes and find stuff that i would never be able to touch. I have a belgian malinois/german shepard at home and wish she was a police dog dog but she isnt. 100 catches is a hell of a lot apprehensions and it takes a good handler to do that, not just anybody with a dog can pull that off. good work brother.

But the important question.... did your partner get a bite on that 100th apprehension?
Congrats to you both... as pointed out above, it says a lot about the handler as well. You two reallly have to work well together to be an effective team... I've seen some great teams and some dogs that got stuck with really FUBAR handlers. I felt sorry for those dogs. |
