By the time I acquired the capability of receiving a wide range of RTTY it was too late - everyone had already gone to encryption and odd baud rates, etc. The only RTTY I've ever been able to decode is ham stuff, and that can be challenging using just a simple dipole instead of a directional gain antenna. There's a lot of odd stuff on the short wave bands, but not as much as there used to be. Why would anyone use short wave radio when there's satellite comms, Internet connectivity by many means, etc? |
