Credit due to fike? Plumber? Forget who here originally turned me on to it. But it's been awesome.

Purchased F1 TV two years ago after getting frustrated with ESPN's shitty coverage. Wish I had done it years ago as it's easily worth the ~$4/event price.

As long as they don't jack the price too much, I'll be a lifelong subscriber.

It's really nice being able to watch the races on my schedule and being able to watch archive content.

Appreciate the post. Just when you think ESPN coverage can't get any worse; marked my calendar for F1TV.

Just so you know, if you get the one year subscription, it lasts for a full year not just until the end of the season.

I started my subscription several races into the season and didn't have to renew it until several races into the next season.

You can also have it playing on multiple devices at once.

The problem for me is that my Samsung TV doesn’t have an app for it.  Not interested in watching on computer or tablet, or getting Apple TV box or Chromecast, or other streaming boxe just to get one channel.

Sort of F1 related, as Gil worked for McClaren I believe as a consultant (and had previously worked for BAR Honda). But RIP to Gil de Ferran, one of my favorite open wheel racers. From all the condolences from his fellow racers he seemed to be very well liked and respected.

Obligatory pic of the man himself and one of the most badass open wheel racecars to ever exist (IMHO).

You should be able to cast from your tablet to the TV.

McLaren definitely showed the most promise toward the end of last season.

The Merc votes are so high just because of all the LewHam nut-huggers.  Dude has more rabid fans than anyone in F1.  I saw nothing that leads me to believe Mercedes will be any better in '24.

They came in second.  Granted they are Ferrari were very close but not McLaren.

Red Bull isn't going to go slower and should improve some in terms of pace.  I don't see the other teams closing that big of a gap over the winter though. So second will mostly likely be Ferrari or Merc and Ferrari keeps on shooting themselves in the foot.

Merc just had fewer fuck ups than Ferrari but were never really a challenger to Red Bull.  The question was "which team will be the closest challenger", not "who will screw up less than Ferrari?"

I think McLaren showed the ability to give Red Bull a legitimate run this year.  Merc will be in the hunt for 2/3/4 just like Ferrari.

Everyone is limited by the cost cap and Red Bulls' catering budget.

I think Merc will beat Ferrari, because... Ferrari.    But it will be a nail biter.   F1 won't be actually interesting again until the new regs in 2025.

We have DirecTV and the new Genie that integrates with the receiver is like a Roku you can install apps to. I have to use the Roku to view F1TV because our Samsung doesn't have room or the app available. I thought about sideloading it, but that runs the risk of breaking stuff I don't want to have to try and fix.

I believe it was the first year.  If not the first, it was definitely one of the years.

I did appreciate the variety in appearance, at least.

Back in the day, I'd say no. Now? With headcount in four digits, I think it's perfectly possible they're provisionally doing a workup for 2025.
