"I think we need to go get Max." I admire his enthusiasm, but let's be realistic, Lando.

Dang that was a good battle between Ham and Carlos. Carlos wants his spot back.

Running Norris long and hoping piastri backs up Max to get a pit window?
Not sure that’s going to work, but I guess it’s their best chance. |

Sainz should have let Lewis hit him

Lando/Mclaren competely fucked their pit window up.

I mean Lando has already chipped away 3 seconds of Max's lead. I still don't think they will get him, but at the end with newer sorts than Max there might be a chance.

Lap 64 and there are 36 posts in this thread since the start of the race, that might be a record low lol

All things equal, I think McLaren / Norris is faster than RB/Verstappen

The only talking point is that NOR overtakes LEC in the WDC

Boring race. Ferrari needs to get their shit together pronto.

I was seeing the VER / NOR gap as Red Bull simply staying ahead, vs McLaren actually catching up.

Both McLaren and Merc faster after their upgrades. Ferrari need to think about ending up 4th on the WCC. Not sure about the strat being shitty. Both Merc and Ferrari had one guy on hards and the other on softs on the last stint, and clearly softs were the way to go. Leclerc almost got to Russell. ETA: Oscar needs to pick up his game to help McLaren in the WCC. Lando can’t do it alone. |

Just finished watching the race. You think Lewis is starting to question jumping to Ferrari now?

I wonder if Newey leaving RB is because he said "Don't do the thing with the RB20...." and they did the thing while he worked on the RB17 Hypercar. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the RB19 go against everyone else's 2024 car just from a performance standpoint. Did the field close the gap, or did RedBull get the RB20 wrong? Max is going to have to work for a 4th title this year, which isn't a bad thing, but I think the Constructor's title is definitely up for grabs between McLaren and Mercedes. They should have promoted RIC to the 2nd seat and given Liam the ride in the VCARB, and kicked PER to the curb. He's fucking terrible. |

Looking at last year’s qualifying, the RB19 would struggle to get into Q3. Lando’s pole lap was 1:11.383 Max’s pole from last year was 1:12.272 But….the RB19 finished last year’s race 22 seconds sooner (1:27:57.9 vs 1:28:20.2). I’d say they developed in the correct direction as it would lose considerably more than 22 seconds starting P11 or P12. |

With the FIA now “allowing” flexible front wings, we shouldn’t underestimate the performance advantage some teams currently have.
And to not sound like a conspiracy theorist, look no further than Aston Martin last year. |

The beams on a bridge will deflect some from you driving over it. So the FIA specs a maximum deflection for a specified load. The trick is to comply with this and still have the wing lose down force and drag at high speed. ETA, if you have F1TV, Sam Collins did a segment on this topic. |

There will always be gray areas and work arounds. That’s what makes F1 great. The FIA deemed that AM went too far last year and they went from podiums to midfield overnight. With the way these cars work, it is extremely powerful. This year, something similar is being done and they are allowing it. Not a complaint on my end. Just that there is a ton of performance on offer and it will take teams a while to implement the upgrade. |
