If anyone got a $9 SEF lower they don't want let me know...that and the 'wide' hand guard, and a green sling is all I'm putting on this thing...

You can convert one of the HK91 SEF housings yourself, these used ones are about the cheapest way to get there:

https://hkparts.net/product/hk-g3-91-ptr-sef-push-pin-navy-style-housing-good-shape-p17354.htm/

All you have to do is cut off the second pin hole on the rear tang.  You can leave the remaining hole closed or cut it to be open on the top/rear like the OEM housing if you want, either way will work.

Sorry for the delayed response, I finally got fought up from a work trip and remembered this.

Looks to me 22” fully extended for the ‘P’ model and BT stock.

Almost there.  I have an omega 9k that hasn’t cleared yet, should make for a pretty short package with the short 3-lug adapter.

For now I can use my octane or visit it at the range

I am still kicking around the idea of an RMR.  I just haven’t found a mounting solution I really like.

Length with stock fully extended please?

Inside the trench of the receiver that forms the bolt "rails" is popular, the place where the arms of a collapsing stock go.

That of the top of the receiver, if there's room.

That looks good. I have seen that further back, so the stock arms cover it when collapsed.

It's still covered.  The A3 arms completely fill that space when collapsed.

I plan on using a surplus HK93 A2 stock I got for cheap instead of a A3 collapsing stock but I will probably still do my engraving in the notches since that just seems likea  great place for it.

Never dealt with this company, but it seems legit and a good price, not clear if it's HK or a copy.  https://max-arms.com/product/hk-mp5-g3-53-91-94-33-3-point-sling-green/

And Apex had German new old stock ones.  https://www.apexgunparts.com/mp5-sling-canvas-config-nos.html

I got the $33 version from Apex, which has already been linked to.

It works fine, but the hardware is a cheap paint that comes off immediately with metal-on-metal contact.
However, it latches fine into the clip on the AP5 magwell.  I think I read somewhere on arf that some slings won't.

Have you considered making these and selling them? I'm sure you could sell a bunch. Or, alternately talk to Earl at Impact Weapons Components and see if he wants to make them. Either way I can see this being a viable product.

Hey, Lancelot. I've actually sold a few to members here and on the other HK forum. I'm going to make 100 of them and will be offered on EE as soon as they're GTG.

Thanks for your interest.

Well I’m hooked .  Picked up a full size AP5, this is my first experience with the MP5 platform.  I’m already planning to buy two more, an additional full size AP5 and an AP5-P.

I ran 500 rounds through this one today with 2 failures, both FTF and I’m pretty sure ammo related.  One was with 158gr which I’ve read is not recommended for MP5’s.  The other with one round out of 150 of 124gr Blazer Brass.

It currently has a KAC RAS hand guard, SEF Navy style trigger housing, and a Magpul safety.  Up next will be a form 1 and then either an A3 stock (if I can snag an MKE one) or a B&T folding stock.

As for my future purchases, the P will be set up like the MP5K PDW with Choate folder and broom handle hand guard.  The other full size will get a tropical hand guard and A2 stock.

My Hk Psrts order showed up today, so fast shipping is a plus, but my $25 SEF lower looks like it should have been a $9 lower.

It came with some type of fabric backed tape on the grill, that when peeled off left a -probably decades-old band of dried on, very hardened fabric backing adhesive residue. It’s thick- hopefully Goo Gone will take it off without damaging the plastic?

They are used, surplus parts, either from German or some other Army's old G3s.  So they will all be a bit different in wear and condition.  They used to cost about $12, but in the past 8 months they came up due to all the new AP5 buyers.

I went and tried some Goof-Off and non-chloro brake cleaner on my housing just to check, neither did any damage to the plastic.

Update on my AP5-P:

Century had it for a total of about 3 business days before fedexing it back to me. Got it back today. FedEx is a pain in the ass.

Anyway, 6 mags of mke 124gr. ammo, and had 3 FTE, all out of different mags. I wasn't real impressed, but, better than before, so i loaded all 6 mags with Sig 124gr. +p, and 4 mags went by no issues, then on my 5th, 3 failures. HK mag, cant see anything wrong with it. Last mag full was fine.

Says on the paper from century that they replaced extractor & spring, and ejector & spring. I'm fairly certain they did not replace my ejector and just polished the face of it. But, who knows.

I'll have to shoot it more to figure out wtf is actually happening.

Only downside to the "M" is no way to mount a suppressor if that matters.

I'm going to end up picking up one of those but you're right if I'm going to get it it's going to be able to have a suppressor on it. I've got too many 9 mm cans to not have the ability to suppress it

Does anyone know of a red dot/mount combo that will put the dot above the front post but below the front sight shroud?

I don’t want absolute cowitness but I also don’t want it to sit on the shroud and I’m not willing to go with a skyscraper mount. I’m guessing that it’s going to be difficult to find what I want.

I think a T2 style red dot with a low-mount used with the ultra-low profile MFI rail or similar very low optic mount will get you about there.  It's a very tight window to try and get the dot specifically in that space between the front post and the hood, plus the consideration of having the rear drum in the field of view when mounted that low.

Range is snowed in so I just went to my buddies farm and blasted at some old stumps. AP5 ran perfect with Blazer Brass 124gr and my 115gr handloads with RMR bullets and Unique powder. With my 147gr handloads using RMR HMW bullet and VVN320 powder the last round would jam into the feedramps but the other 29 rounds run fine and shoot very very soft.

Might try a +5% Wolff mag spring to see if I can get that last round to run properly since I have a stash of 10k of the 147gr RMR HMW bullets on hand.

It was also like -40 out so nice to know it will run in the extreme cold

Any one have issues with their AP5 feeding flat nose 147 gr or JHP 147Gr?  With mine it looks like the bullets are diving into the receiver.  I had to take it completely apart to get one round out, a little sporty with a live round.

I'll get 1 to 2 shots off and it happens.  I tried it with the factory mags and an aftermarket one.  No difference.

With 147gr. Gold Dots, I had the following experience:

With the metal MKE mags, the first round on a full mag would nose-dive jam about 33% of the time, but subsequent rounds in the mag were always good to go.

With plastic Overwatch Mags, in brand new mags they would nose-dive near 100% throughout the mag.  However, after breaking in the mags with FMJ round nose (which works 100%), the mags get some break in and the Gold Dots feed more reliably, closer to how the MKE mags are with maybe the first round causing a problem if any.

So, it seems to me, if there if the round on the top of the mag is held there too tight, then the bolt slows down a bit when it tries to feed it and the round has a chance to nose-dive.  I haven't put a ton of rounds through the overwatch mags yet, so I'll see if it improves.  If not, they'll just be FMJ only range mags.

That's pretty much whats going on with mine but with just the last round in the mag. My Scorpion wont feed these 147gr flat nose bullets at all so its an improvement over that.
