We had a wedding in Virginia over the weekend. Took some extra time off to drive down to Charlotte after. (wish I could figure out how to post pictures here). On the way down we stopped at Martinsville. Figured the track would be closed, but at least wanted to see it. Turns out you could drive right up. The hauler gate was open, so we hung out for a bit and took pictures. Saw a golf cart coming up to us, and figured we would get told to leave. Track worker said to walk around and see whatever we would like. Even though I've watched a million races there on TV, after seeing in in person, my brain had a tough time comprehending how there could be nearly 40 cars on that track at the same time. Absolutely have to go back to see one in person. Once we got into Charlotte, we stopped at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It's absolutely worth the visit. We were there for about 4 hours, and easily could have spent the entire day if we had the time. The next morning we got up, and decided to hit as many shops as we could before our flight. Started with JGR, since they opened first and were closest to our hotel. Incredible experience. We also hit 23XI after that. From there, we drove north to Mooresville and hit Team Penske. Unreal facility. We also drove by Spire and I let the Hocevar hauler know he was number 1. Hit Jr Motorsports as well. We then continued north to Statesville to Legacy Motor Club. My oldest is a huge Blaney fan, and we got him a ton of stuff at the Penske shop. My youngest is a huge Jones fan, so we wanted to make sure to get him stuff too. Saw Jimmie's 48 ride for the Daytona 500 there, which was super cool. We had a little bit of time left before our flight, so we decided to hit Hendrick. I'm not a fan of that team at all, but goodness, what a complex they have. The lady at the front desk gave us some lug nuts from Corey Day's bristol car for the boys, which was super cool. When we got home, the boys were supremely jealous, but some of the merch we brought back helped. We do badly want to take them, so I think for Christmas this year, we'll plan a weeklong trip for the World 600 and hit all the fan days at the shop. If you haven't been, and you're in the area, it's absolutely worth checking out. |
