I've read the comments and watched videos the last couple days about how not helpful Mig 29s would be. I'm going to go against the grain and think they are exactly what is needed. The Ukrainians aren't stupid, they seem to be fighting very well and know what they need. They didn't ask for F35s, Arleigh Burke destroyers or M1 Abrams. They asked for SAMs, Anti-Tank Missiles and Mig 29s. Also apparently Putin can be easily fooled if airplanes are transferred a certain way and throw up his hands and say "they got me" as if there is some international court that decides if the action provokes him.
I'm betting the changeouts of NATO equipment and training can be accomplished way faster than said. From conversation with my kids in the military from their tech schools, every training class has a LOT of wasted time. |

Is there anything really new? Russia is continuing to try to expand, trying to lay seige to Kiev. Largely the russians are having to pay for every inch they take. Russian ships are now also shelling Mariupol. Some batches of civilians escaped Mariupol, but really Mariupol is under siege, under shelling, and has been trapped for quite a while. Both sides are taking losses, russians are taking a lot more. Is that about it.

LONDON (AP) U.S. chipmaker Intel unveiled plans on Tuesday to invest up to 80 billion euros ($88 billion) across Europe as part of an ambitious expansion aimed at evening out imbalances in the global semiconductor industry that have led to big chip shortages. CEO Pat Gelsinger said Intel was investing the money over the next decade "along the entire semiconductor value chain." The company plans to spend tens of billions of dollars setting up or expanding chip production sites and establishing research and development or design centers in Germany, Ireland, France and Italy. "Why are we doing this? Because the world has an insatiable demand for semiconductors, or chips," Gelsinger said in a webcast. View Quote |
