If you stop production of that, then feed prices get even higher and so do meat costs. Farmers are going to plant what’s profitable. As far as wheat, hard red red wheat is a minimum of 12mos out to increase production and a maximum of about 18 months, depending on when you start. We're currently at the near maximum for northern temperate zones. You can't sow hard red winter wheat until fall, with a harvest the following early summer, if there's good weather, Maybe you could get some durum semolina or other low protein summer soft wheats now if you start right away and harvest some in a few months by early fall or so, assuming you can get seed and and such; I'm not a farmer except on Ganymede.

Both were getting modernized but the plants doing that are in occupied or contested territory now so who knows how many they actually have active. |
