They had an interesting article about why the Russians are the likely culprit: https://www.cicero.de/aussenpolitik/nord-stream-pipeline-sabotage-russland-explosion-erdgas . You guys can shove it through Google Translate if you want. Here are the salient points:
  • Nordstream 1 and 2 actually consists of PAIRS of pipes.
  • Nordstream 1 has only ONE damaged pipe, so they could resume delivery through the other one. Nordstream 2, of course, was never in use.
  • They can show the West that they're serious
  • They can create economic panic
  • Turn European public opinion against the war
  • Implicitly threaten similar pipelines that are used to circumvent Russian supplies.
The fact that one pipeline is still open for Russian is a gamechanger in the argument that it couldn't have been the Russians IMO.

Depends on the cruise missile and warhead. I'd wager it was another AS-4. That's a 1000kg warhead.

The Ukrainian armed forces will need, much needed snow camo and netting for the upcoming winter.

Will the U.S. have to deal with China for manufacturing and exporting snow camo to the U.S., and then eventually having it shipped to Ukraine? Or will the U.S. have to hire a U.S. based clothing manufacturer?

Supposedly aircraft launched this morning for what it's worth.

Impacting maybe +/-5 km away and the windows rattle pretty good.

1 kilometer away in July really surprised me that I didn't shit my pants. Holy fuck that one was rough.

Pretty sure he understands that metal moving at high velocity can kill him. He presents a big cross section to catch flying projectiles, and probably won't fit well in a BMP.

The last batch of “tactical” gear I bought (gun cases and slings and such) was made in Vietnam. Not sure we could count on them for any help against their comrades the Russians though.

From a Trump supporter, that is freakin' lame, unless he means negotiating to return to the pre-2014 borders. He should be out front supporting military aid, and trying to dispell Tucker's BS, yet this is all I have heard (other than the likely correct statement it never would have happened which he keeps repeating).

Funny how those guys have disappeared now that their unstoppable SAM systems are getting fucked up by early 1990s era AGM-88B HARM missiles and their supply depots and troop concentrations ravaged by HIMARS, which they also have zero capability to deal with. Russian systems and Russian operators aren't worth a cunt full of cow slobber. The only folks who can seem to get decent performance out of Russian air defense systems are the Ukrainians! That is likely because they are more intelligent and better capable to tweak and adapt to capitalize on the sgtrengths and minimize the weaknesses of these systems. I can't wait to see what kind of work they'll be able to do once they get their hands on NASAMS, Iris-T and eventually longer range systems such as Patriot or the Mamba/SAMP-T. That’s why I believe people are asking the wrong questions “who stands to financially benefit from the damaged pipelines?” It’s not about money, it’s about Putin being a petty little baby.

Putin is trying to show that he’s in control. Germany saying that it will not buy Russian gas, that put Germany in control of the situation. Russia emanating the pipeline says “WE are the ones that say you can’t have gas, NOT you”. Just saying that wouldn’t mean anything. How else will Russia prove that they will not turn the gas back on? The only way to prove that, is to damage the pipeline.

Putin also is showing that he’s cutting ties with the EU for the long term. He’s willing to hurt the Russian economy as long as it also hurts the EU economy, it doesn’t matter if it hurts Russia more than the EU.

As a bonus he gets to use it as propaganda “the whole world is against Russia, woe is me!”. The Russian public gets riled up. Putin can use it as justification for attacking infrastructure. It also creates additional chaos and uncertainty in the energy markets.

And Russian people are going to fall for it, because “why would Putin blow up their own pipeline when they control whether the gas is on or off?” They don’t comprehend what a petty narcissist Putin is.

Good post.  Only critique I have is: "the whole world is against Russia, woe is me"

Another possible angle I’ve not seen mentioned in this thread: A suicide pact.

Theory: Putin ordered it to destroy the option of someone thinking they could bump him off and get back to business as usual.  He’s cut that option off for other elites so as to limit their options for alliance against him.  It does make a degree of sense. I saw this in another thread elsewhere, not my original idea.

Hmmm.

That does have a certain insane Russian internal logic to it.

Oh cool, thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t fully understand who I was quoting.

For reference, here’s a real Soviet-era sidor, which is hi-tech compared to that junk (genuine harness, compartments).  Interestingly, this one is from a Ukrainian seller.

We discussed this a few days ago and I think cw was this had a lot to do with it.  My gut says this is a big part.  They’ve been told to damn the torpedoes and get on with it; things are that bad.

And should the unthinkable actually happen and a launch aircraft managed to get inside the S300 envelope, then the HARM would be blown out of the sky by the SHORAD systems protecting the S300/400.

The skies around Ukraine would likely look like the opening morning of bird season with all the shit falling out of the sky.

It's funny how so many Z-Boys/Russia Bros/etc. have just faded away, now that all their  "truths" have been shown to be so much bullshit.
