lol, it's been a year since those were advertised, one wonders how many of these the Ukrainians have received by now from Taiwan.

If Ukraine manages to liberate Staromlynivka and surrounding areas, which I think it is the short term goal in this phase, the possible HIMARS range complicates the Russian logistics very much

Jesus if that hit a Russian ship at the pier it would punch straight through the whole thing and finally come to a stop in the ocean bed underneath and then blow up under the keel like a torpedo

We have bombs that can detonate under a ship's keel like a torpedo.

@RockNwood

Here is the first 80 JDAM test pass with the B-2 using inert early versions of the GBU-38.

It's just cheaper and easier to give them export Harpoon missiles that they can ground or air launch instead of training a submarine crew.

People are kidding themselves if they think they need to match the number of ships an enemy has.  There are other force multipliers that can be used.

A lot of F16 and all those F/A-18 from Australia is my bet.

I’ll take a guess and say over 100 4th Gen (60+ F-16 & 41 F/A-18 at minimum) will get promised this week. That’s the big news.

You may be right, so far I found that the video was initially released by a Ukrainian source, but it's claimed a Ukrainian drone is what filmed it.  Geo location might show this is firmly on the Russian side of the front which could give it more credibility.  We'll have to keep an eye on this either way, it's interesting.

Western vehicles are much more mine resistant. If the western vehicles hit a mine they will be disabled and the crew gets out. With the Russian equipment, they all die.

The people that listen and absorb that garbage are well last the point of critical thinking and logic. “Proving” reality would cause them to just simply say it’s another conspiracy.

They need to capture a good bit more. They aren’t going to risk HIMARS that close to the front. They would need a stand-off distance to protect against drone/Arty/CAS.

The only conventional sub that has been in reserve in recent times is the Dolphin, which was an auxiliary sub and only had one torpedo tube. She may have been scrapped by now. Sturgeon class is long gone.

Well, we have seen evidence of HIMARS driven literally up the front at other places in the past year under cover of darkness to do a fire mission on important Russian logistics or command and control areas.  I would not put it past them if they feel safe enough to do this again.

It is probably actually happening, but that doesn't make this vid legit.

For forcing unmotivated, poorly trained conscripts to fight, there is probably no other way. But it IS pathological and should be a clear indication that their "cause" is all FUBAR. I just hope the sick fuckers that are running this shit show get the same treatment soon.

Dmitry Mishov, Russian airman who defected, gives BBC interview

A military defector who fled Russia on foot has given a rare interview to the BBC, in which he paints a picture of an army suffering heavy losses and experiencing low morale.

Lieutenant Dmitry Mishov, a 26-year-old airman, handed himself into the Lithuanian authorities, seeking political asylum.
Dmitry said escaping from Russia in such dramatic fashion, with a small rucksack on his back, was his last resort.
He is among a small handful of known cases of serving military officers fleeing the country to avoid being sent to Ukraine to fight - and the only case of a serving airman that the BBC knows of.

.......

Overwhelming and common, according to Mishov, is unhappiness with low salaries.

He says experienced air force officers are still paid their pre-war contract salary of up to 90,000 roubles (£865, $1090). This is while new recruits are being tempted into the army with 204,000 roubles (£1960, $2465) as part of an official and publicly advertised campaign.

Dmitry says that while attitudes towards Ukraine may vary, no one in the army believes official reports about things going well at the front or about low casualties.

Whatever it is can carry multiple PG-7 warheads. That's a big upgrade from the modified RKG-3 AT grenades they used early in the war.

I wonder if that last one was a T-90M since they gave it a triple treatment.

The first and last fleeing troops definitely had rifles, you can glimpse them when they swing them away from their bodies.  Possibly the second guy as well.  May have been out of ammo, may have been psychologically unready to fire on fellow troops or authority figures while running in a panic.

That’s what I always find funny. I shoot guns in GA. Unless it’s drought conditions and dry dirt you aren’t seeing “puffs of dust” in a thick grassy, moist soil field.

Seeing exaggerated “dust kick-up” from .21 cal rifles is more “Hollywood” than not.

It's nothing new. The russian army forces their conscripts to stay put by shooting them if they retreat. Russia has been doing this for a long time. It's what they do instead of spending the time and money in training their soldiers into being disciplined. It's cheap.
