| Wondering if y'all had any ideas on a solution to the battery in my Land Cruiser. Haven't been driving it much lately so not surprised to find it was dead so I hooked it up to my charger, a so called smart charger 2/30/60 amp digital job that displays battery percentage and voltage as it's charging and automatically shuts off when done. Charger went up to 100 percent charged so I tried it again. Nothing. Start thinking it's something wrong with LC but after checking connections and everything I finally decide to swap out battery with another vehicle. Started right up. Even tried LC battery in another car and still no luck. I said no problem, battery is still under warranty at Walmart for free replacement(runs out in a month). Took in to exchange and this is where I'm having trouble. They tested battery and the results came out that the battery passed the load test. So I say, maybe charger is screwed. Took home and then put it on older, manual charger over night. Still no luck. My question is, what would cause battery to pass load test but not even be able to turn vehicle over? I even tried older battery out of a tractor in my LC and though it showed only 67% charge, it did manage to crank Land Cruiser up. This assures me it's not a vehicle problem. Is there another test Walmart can do? |

I'd question the accuracy of the load test if the battery won't start a vehicle that will turn over when powered by a replacement cell. If the voltage is acceptable then maybe there isn't enough acid in the battery to pass enough current under draw to turn the starter? Have the auto parts store check the specific gravity of the acid in the battery using a hydrometer. |
