I just got a net of M Frames. The lenses have a small hole in them, and the frames have this plastic piece that 'locks' into the hole.

From what I can tell, this is just for extra retention and is not necessary. Therefore, I can remove it without any ill effects and can use regular (non SF) lenses with them too?

Thanks!

I assume you are talking about the M-Frames that look like this:

I have never fooled with an Uncle Sam issued pair, but I believe the lens shapes are exactly the same as standard M Frame lenses, and the only difference is the little retention clip. You can probably eliminate the cip and use normal lenses just fine.

You should be good to go without the clip.

Bump to see if anybody else has more information. right now I'm worried about which side to push on the clip to install/uninstall the lenses...
