I have the Oakley Half Jackets, with both clear and tinted lenses. I've used them for everything from casual wear to carbine courses to eye-pro for patient care, and I absolutely love them.
That said, they cost me 50 bucks through .gov sales. No way I'd pay 400 bucks. |

I went with Oakley Flak Jackets as well. They're damn fine glasses and worth the money. Interchangeable lens options for just about any lighting / task (clear, ultra-blacked-out, polarized, orange, yellow, etc, etc, etc), good coatings for scratch resistance and anti-glare, and they do a better job at ballistic protection for your eyes than most cheap range goggles ever could. |

I've heard they make Asian versions of many of their popular frames, for people with flat & narrow faces.
I have a narrow face so, lots dont fit... I need the smaller lense type. Quoted:

I have had MANY oakleys. Great CS when they have issues.
When I lived in So Cal I would drive to the factory and replace a $200 pair of glasses for $40. I think you can replace them for about $60-$80 through the mail. In person was perfect. Now I buy crappy gas station glasses for $8.00. I feel no pain when the get scratched or broke. If I leave them at home, no big deal. Another pair of $8 glasses... |
| I have a pair of authentic X-metal Juliets I picked up off eBay (legitimately) and I like them, alot. I really enjoy having a metal frame, where I can replace the lenses on down the line if they become scratched. The optical clarity is pretty damn fine and I won't buy sunglasses that aren't polarized. |

Treated a patient last summer who had shards from a pair of cheap sunglasses embedded in his eye. |

I was going to buy some new rubber for the old Zero's that I had, but then I lost them this past weekend. Either that or they got stolen. FUCK!! that still pisses me off. |

If you have a gov. ID you can get them here, thats what I do... https://secure.usstandardissue.com/index.cfm?&CFID=2719099&CFTOKEN=36788558 |

I just got a pair of Oakleys Flak Jacket glasses a couple weeks ago AWESOME glasses! Look at it this way. Even if they only last you 10 years, thats only what, 35 bucks a year? Since the frames a damn strong, and you can replace the lenses (most likely part to break) and the nose pieces, the glasses SHOULD last you for a very loooong time! |
|
I've been wearing a pair of Oakleys of some sort for over 14 years.
They are worth it, and they will fix them for likel $20 if you break em. $40 will fix them with new lenses (at least last time I used the service) I really like the Half-Jackets. They were just a touch over $100. |
