"As Abraham Lincoln said, states do not have the right to do wrong. And so there are folks, here who said states can do this and I won’t get involved in that. I will get involved in that because the states, as a president I will get involved because the states don’t have a right to undermine the basic fundamental values that hold this country together. America is an ideal. It’s not just a constitution, it is an ideal. It’s a set of morals and principles that were established in that declaration, and states don’t have the right, just like they didn’t have the right to do slavery." ![]() |

ooops lol
he WSJ Law Blog reports on comments by former Senator Rick Santorum (unearthed at RedState) on federalism and the authority of different states to adopt different policies on moral questions. I’m a very strong supporter of the 10th amendment . . . but the idea that the only things that the states are prevented from doing are only things specifically established in the Constitution is wrong. Our country is based on a moral enterprise. Gay marriage is wrong. As Abraham Lincoln said, states do not have the right to do wrong. And so there are folks, here who said states can do this and I won’t get involved in that. If Senator Santorum is a “strong supporter of the 10th amendment,” he might want to read it, as it seems to say precisely what he denies. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/santorum-%E2%80%9Cstates-do-not-have-right-do%C2%A0wrong%E2%80%9D |
There you go folks, aren't we glad this piece of work is the leader of the free world? I've been hearing from all the liberal relatives, "See, he hasn't tried to take away your 2nd amendment.". No, he hasn't... yet, but he wouldn't have a snow ball's chance in hell at re-election if he had. He gets his second term and doesn't have to worry about re-election, I wager there's a good chance we're going to see the gloves come off. How about we not let this run another 4-year course just so that we can find out!!

So this was something Santorum said in regard to legalization of gay marriage. |

Obviously Google's effort at translating Shyriiwook, also known as Wookieespeak, the main trade language of the Wookies. |

What that fuck doesn't understand or want to understand about the constitution, the Declaration, this country, it's morals, it's purpose, the middle class, and our place in the world would fill volumes. He understands just fine, which is why he is working hard to destroy the country |

the states do not have to right to enact slavery because it was abolished by the 13th amendment to the u.s. constitution. i think that answers this question, maybe. |

Quoted: Wow he played the slavery card. Get used to it. For the next 7 months you're to hear non-stop about racist America and how the GOP wants hold back blacks and other minorities, and even return to slavery. And should Obama lose, Sharpton, Jackson, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, probably Michelle Obama, and many others will be screaming their asses off about how Barry lost because he's black. Get ready for pockets of violence and mayhem. edit: Nothing protects incompetence better than the Race Card. |
|
Oops, my bad. That was Rick Santorum playing the slavery card to explain why states do not have the right to do anything that he thinks is wrong. I guess it's OK if a republican does it. |

Santorum loses points with his rhetoric about states' rights. The 10th, like the 2nd is quite clear and unambiguous. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

How did a dude who cannot give a fucking speech in a remotely competent manner ever get as far as this asshat has? The media, Soros money, white guilt and intellectual dishonesty all but assured it. Quoted:
Did a monkey write that? Oh wait, one did. The quote in the OP is from Santorum- not BHO. |
