Let me start by emphatically stating that this is in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM, a cop bashing thread. I don't hate the police and I never have, but how is this allowed to go on? Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but this is outrageous. God forbid he has to get physical with someone. Maybe they just let him do funeral duty - which is what he was doing here. |

whether you want it to be a cop bashing thread or not its only a matter of time
that looks like a private officer based on uniform, belt, and motor...and most officers pride themselves on being in good shape also, every line of work will have the fatty's...including the military, most of these guys use the "ADA" excuse....so theres not much that can be done in many departments |

The Funeral Duty guys are not usually cops, just privately hired motorcycle riders who escort the procession and pause traffic. That was a Flower Mound cop. Regular duty. I've seen him before. then if you've seen him before and know who he is....why not call the chief or sheriff and let them know how you feel, instead of asking GD of all places, why this happens?

I was trying to have a discussion here and get some different points of view. So sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities. |

Good Lord, where is this? |

Police, fire, and other first responders should be required to meet Mil physical fitness standards.
Their job requires mil-standard physical fitness in order to perform the job properly. Yearly, announced testing. Programs for those who fail the initial test, but dismissal for those who fail after-program test Just as every Marine is a rifleman, Every cop, fireman, and first responder should be able to meet minimum entrance requirements. Qtffice jobs for on-the-job incurred injuries only, and valor awards preferred in such instances, even displacing non-Valor awardees in existing positions... |
|
She's fat, but that's a photoshop... |

Quoted: Never could figure out how a large cop can pass a fitness test. 1. Reserve Officers that have connections 2. Started out being able to do the job and meet the standards. After a while, they just threw in the towel. 3. In smaller communities, maybe no one else wants the job. If there is a POST commission, you won't see out of shape people passing the academy. |

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but this is outrageous. God forbid he has to get physical with someone. Maybe they just let him do funeral duty - which is what he was doing here. A couple of issues at play. 1. ADA protections. 2. If you have fitness standards some argue you must pay employees to exercise. 3. If you pay employees to exercise there is a fear workers comp insurance costs will increase. Now i would argue you are going to have more fat cops blowing out their backs doing routine duties than the limited number of exercise related workers comp claims. But the risk managers argue otherwise. |

Every Marine is paid to work out, given time to work out on duty, has free healthcare for exercise related injuries and doesnt lose pay if said exercise related injuries result in missed work days. Though I would fully support the same benefits for cops and firefighters. |

Cops like that taze you in the face or where ever so you fall down and bust your skull, or they just fucking shoot you. |
|
I don't understand how anyone can be fat like that. Seriously it's disgusting. Anyone in any public position like police, fire, EMT, and military should be required to meet and pass physical standards.
It sickens me to see fat civilians. There is no excuse. God may have given you a mouth but you sure as fuck abuse it. Get up and work out and for fucks sake stop swallowing calories like they are going out of style. Fat people fat people everywhere. /end rant |
|
When you buy a cooked chicken at Costco or at a deli and it's the same price for the chicken regardless of its size, do you pick the skinny little chicken or the big fat one?
Duh? Everyone knows you get more for your money with the big fat one. Shouldn't the same standard apply to the popo?

I'm a middle-aged paramedic who hates exercising, and I agree with you completely. I work out and stay in decent shape because I do shit like carrying people down stairs. When someone assumes that type of responsibility, they have an ethical duty to maintain the ability to do the job. |

The officers stated they had been able to do the job prior to the standards and now they were being discriminated against. I'm not saying this is being used everywhere, or that I agree with it....I don't like fat cops, just like im sure the .mil doesn't like pyles... also if you look at the pictures many have rank or have been there for a while....most academies have fitness standards and new officers usually aren't hired fat. They become fat through being lazy or just being around forever and not being pushed...fat "patrol" officers usually work themselves out |
|
GD hates Fat people, Fat cops most of all. But ironically they hate muscular cops as well. So I guess the fitness standards would be "dont be fat" but "dont be buff either". Lanky like a 1950's cowboy sheriff is aparently the only acceptable body type for a police officer here.
Oh and in the interest of disclosure, yes I'm a cop. No I'm not fat. I weighed in at 161.4# on Friday which isnt bad considering I'm in my 40's. Today was bench and pull-ups day at the gym with my wife. I did 190x5, 195x5 & 200x4 followed immediately by 34 dead hang pull-ups. I was supposed to do 36 pulls ups and should have had that 5th rep on the last bench set but ill get it next week. I wish all my area partners exercised but the fact is some of the best cops I work with are overweight and some of the worst cops I work with are gym rats. |

of all places, why this happens?
