You know, there's somewhere around 7M people that live in DFW, and I assume most of the adults got up last Monday and went to work all week. Accountants, trash guys, plumbers, doctors, whatever it may be.

Presumably, the Cowboys got up every day last week and worked on football, in their shiny new Ford Center. I've been right by it many times, it's real nice.

So if the accountant deleted all of the quarterly financials, the trash guy dumped all the trash in the street, the plumber flooded every house he went to, the doctor misdiagnosed every patient they saw....they'd all probably get fucking fired.

Not a single one of the stupid fucks on the Cowboys will be fired, or held accountable whatsoever. So what's the fucking point?????

Personally, I couldn't care less about the Cowboys either winning or losing.  I don't particularly like Dak Prescott as a player but there are a lot of players I don't like.
I'm happiest when the Dolphins win and after that, I only care about the rest of the AFC East losing and finally, the AFC contender teams losing.

I was suspicious of the guy that only got 1 SB out of the best qb I've ever seen from day 1.

His teams are sloppy and undisciplined. He clearly give no fucks about penalties. Lining up in the goddamn neutral zone and jumping offsides because you can't watch the fucking ball are not normal things for professional football players. This shit is covered at length in 7th grade 'B' team practices. It should never once be called in an NFL game. But here we are. He clearly condones it, it's the only explanation at this point.

And that team AND that QB haven’t been back to the Super Bowl since MM left.

Maybe MM was the reason they even got the one.

Kind of hard to pinpoint this game on any one player, but what was up with Dak?

I’m not trying to start the ‘is dak elite’ convo like we’ve had in here, but he seems really off tonight…

Stuck me as the 49ers have a good defense and executed a very solid game plan. The game didn't play out as an aberration.

McCarthy tends to become predictable and stale. I don't even know if he's changed much since leaving GB. Would be interesting to read some expert analysis on his scheming and play calling.

Speaking of analysis, Kurt Benkert is putting out a very thoughtful and enjoyable Twitter product on QB performance.

his second int was BAD. he stared down his first read and threw it with no regard for any defensive player in the vicinity. of course the game wasn't all on Dak, but he was especially bad tonight.

Good. I like the guy as a Human being from what I’ve seen.

He’s an ok QB. He’s just not a great QB. Not that it matters, the rest of this team ain’t good enough either.

Dallas would be better off trading him and using the draft capital to start over. Instead, they’ll pay him $60MM/season in a couple of years which will slam the door on this playoff cycle.

No way.

Remember seeing on TV Jason goes to high five a player coming off the field and the player just ignores it and ways right by.
The only reason why he lasted as long as he did was because he did everything Jerry wanted him to.

Since ‘95 the Cowboys have been less relevant on the field than the expansion teams from ‘95: the Panthers & Jaguars. Let that sink in.

The Cowboys have only won 5 playoff games since ‘95. They haven’t even played in a NFC Championship Game since then. That’s nearly 30 years ago.

They are the most overhyped team in all of pro sports and it’s not even close. They have been irrelevant on the field for 3 decades but they are up there with the Lakers, Yankees, etc as the most hyped teams in pro sports. At least those other big name teams have actually won in this millennium.

At some point they’re just a name. They have 5 SB titles. Who gives a shit? Montreal has won 24 Stanley Cups but they have been a dumpster fire for over 30 years.

Folks don’t hate on the Cowboys out of envy, it’s because they are the most talked about team despite being annual bottom feeders or playoff choke artists. I would even wager that they’d get less hate if they actually won something every now and again.

Also…

Carolina’s offseason may surpass the Hershel Walker trade as the most idiotic move of all-time.

Turned down (2) 1st Rd picks (‘24 & ‘25) from LA for Brian Burns, who is a 1-dimensional average pass rusher who sucks against the run and now they can’t resign because he’s asking for elite money.

Traded CMC, arguably the best player in the NFL, to SF for peanuts.

Traded (2) top 10 picks and DJ Moore, a 25yo #1 WR who’s locked into a team friendly long term deal, to Chicago so they could draft a 5’10 180lb QB.

This offseason they are gonna hand Chicago a top 3 pick and either overpay or lose Burns and have an offense with no WRs/RBs and a 5’10 180lb version of Teddy Bridgewater.

Versus being in a position to add Caleb Williams or Drake Maye AND Marvin Harrison Jr to an offense with McCaffrey and DJ Moore.

The Bills are statistically the best team in the AFC, but they just lost one of their most important defensive players, and defensive injuries are a recurring problem for them.

The Chiefs have an offense built around a worn out 34 year old TE and a cast of randos at WR.

The Dolphins have a sketchy defense.

The Ravens are trying to figure out who they are on offense.

The Bengals are starting the season in a big hole.

The Chargers are the Chargers.

Brock Purdy. lol.

Not only is he still leading in EPA/play by a huge margin, but he's top-3ish by CPOE. At some point, we have to stop talking about him as a beneficiary of Shanahan's system and give him credit for what he's doing here. Yes, he's in a very QB friendly system. Yes, the offense around him is LOADED. But he is statistically excellent, and he looked the part last night.

Josh Allen leading the league in CPOE while still getting the occasional case of the YOLOs is a little bit funny to me. I guess he's really that good when he's on.

It appears Sean Payton may have actually fixed Russ. He might have broken everything else on the team in the process, but Russ is playing well.

Baker Mayfield is quietly having himself a good season so far.

Lamar Jackson having a strong CPOE value and a weak EPA value looks very backwards and weird.

I have no problem giving him credit for what he is doing.  However, what I won't do is jump on the "this is who he is going to be for the next 10+ years" bandwagon when he hasn't even started 17 games in his career.  We've seen young QBs have similar stretches only to, not long after, see their careers start to go downhill and a few short years later they aren't even considered "average" by most people.

Maybe that will happen to Purdy.  Maybe not.  Either way, I think its way too early to crown him.

I’ve posted in this thread plenty of times.

And since you bring up the Cowboys’ last Super Bowl win: its kinda wild to think that, as ancient as the Cowboys’ last Super Bowl win was, they have shockingly won one more recently than the 49ers.

LoL

SF won a Super Bowl in ‘94. Dallas last won in ‘95. What a difference!

SF has played in 7 NFCCG and 2 SB since then and will likely play in another this season. Dallas hasn’t even made it past the divisional round a single time and won’t this year either.

Cowboys are a mediocre franchise that get 90s Bulls, 00s Patriots hype annually.

  • Patrick Mahomes has now defeated every team in the NFL except the Chiefs, including the playoffs. He's the 10th different starting QB to defeat 31 different NFL franchises and the first to do it before the age of 30.

Patrick Mahomes is 28, and this is his 6th year as a starter.

He could have checked this box even earlier if he didn't get the dislocated knee in 2019. (The Chiefs won that game with Matt Moore at QB.)

I may not be a fan of QB winz type talking points, but that's a fun one.

He's going to regress a bit. He has to. His current level of .5 EPA/play is wildly unsustainable, especially going down the stretch into winter.

Most MVPs seem to settle somewhere between .3 to .35 EPA/play. That's in reach for him.

I wonder if he gets paid if he wins a SuperBowl.

Which is exactly my point.  The fact that THIS team has won a Super Bowl more recently than THIS team is somewhat shocking.

Also, when you're a franchise that was won five Super Bowls (like the Cowboys and 49ers have), you either win the Super Bowl or you don't.

You're a Panthers fan so you might have a different opinion.
