I've recently discovered a 6x Serratelli brand hat for 89.99. It is BNIB, overstock. Its a 7-1/2, and I've worn 7-1/8 before. Is there a possibility that I can make this hat fit?
I also found a pair of 11 E, Larry Mahan boots. Free shipping, for 169.99. I was measured and a 11EE in Ariats fit the best rounded toe, since it is free shipping and return should I go ahead and order an 11E in LM, because they are square toe, and if they don't fit return them for free? Also from how I've been taught to wear my hat, you set it down on the crown, and store it in the hat box when you aren't wearing it. Is this correct? Furthermore, I've heard that storing it in your truck is a no go, does this include window sticking hat mounts? Lastly, I've been taught that you pick the hat up from the crown but use the front and rear of the hat to position it/snug it down, is this the best way? Thanks ETA I think I will fork out the cash for a Stetson, instead of a serratelli. |

You may be able to fold a bit of newspaper and put it in the hat band. Get it shaped and it might fit you anyway. Is there a reputable national establishment that I can send it to to shape it? The local place put wrinkles in my last hat and I had to fix it with sugar water boiled? If I like the shape its in, can I leave it and make the band smaller? |

WTF does that have to do with anything? BTW the guy in your avvy is totally checking out Kai, so I'd be careful with that sort of business. |
| If ya got to ask how to be a cowboy then ya got no business dressin like one... That said, get a Stetson or a Resistol. Tony Lamas over Lary Mahan's but either work and no damn flower print shirts. Damn clowns wear good boots and a hat and mess it all up with some girl shirt. |

Is it worth it to get a 4x of the aforementioned compared to a 6x of Serratelli? |

I have both but I would get a god pair of Tony Lamas (San Saba collection) Why Stetsons? Well, in Texas they are a necessity at the bar. Ive always worn em. Go with what ya like man, just throwin out what I know. |

Don't buy a bigger hat than you normally wear. You'll regret it the first time the wind blows pretty hard and it lands in a puddle.
As far as a 4x stetson over a 6x. A 5x or greater is best for everyday wear and more durable. I've got several Justin's, bailey's and a stetson. I see very little difference in quality between them. I actually prefer the way Justin's are shaped out of the box. |
| Bump. I measured my hat size with a cloth tape and it read 22-1/2 which by my calculations is like a 59 or 7-3/8 size. I've worn a 7-1/8 hat size and it was tighter than it should be, but it was what I had. So should I just go for a 7-3/8 and call it good, cause I can make it a 7-1/4 if I need too, or atleast tighter? |

When we were kids and our hats didnt fit us well we would cut a section of the band in the back and fold it down so your hat wouldnt blow off. Some reason I get the poser and Im trying to hard to be cool vibe from this thread. |

Try to at least try on a hat of the same brand/model and make sure you're pretty close. You don't want it to turn out being more than a quarter size from what you really need. Just like shoes, not all 7 3/8's are going to be the same or even close for that matter. |

As far as the brand of hat, the Stetson brand has the history and mystique, IMHO.
None of them are made like they used to be made and the X's and what they really mean vary from manufacturer to manufacturer in terms of how much beaver fur is really in them, but the more X's generally the higher the beaver content and better felt. . . . . and Hatco out of Garland, TX owns Stetson, Resistol, & Charlie 1 Horse, so one could argue that all three brands are the same. Don't know how right they would be (It stands to reason in my mind) but, the point is they are all made under one corporate umbrella. Me personally, I have a 4X Silver Belly Stetson, a 5X Ranch Tan Stetson and an older discontinued model 15X Silver Belly Charlie 1 Horse. There is a HUGE difference between the 4 & 5X and the 15X. For what it's worth, as always, YMMV |

So when the hat gets fitted the entire crown gets reworked? Does this affect the shape of it, as far as being round or not, or is the change effective on the entire crown? Furthermore, anyone happen to know what hat shapes are best with which face shape? I like the flatter type styles I think they are called Rodeo, or something like that, with the cattlemans crown. |
