All, This is a question relating to the old weapons ban that has now passed. There are some technical questions I have about it and would appreciate any input. Please note, I'm not looking for any hypothetical answers as to what "might" happen if another is enacted. Under the old weapons ban: 1) If a person owned a "pre-ban" lower could that person still buy accessories for that lower that were not in accordance with the ban? I.e. could a person possessing a pre-ban lower still purchase things like collapsible stocks and flash hiders, etc? 2) Were manufacturers still permitted to produce things such as collapsible stocks, complete uppers with non-compliant items such as flash hiders, bayonet lugs, etc., or were manufacturers required to cease production of any further non-compliant items? 3) What effect, if any, did the the ban have on NFA and Class 3 devices, assuming that the state in question allowed these things to be purchased? I ask these questions because the old weapons ban did not affect me as I'm recently afflicted with BRD. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
The lower was grandfather ONLY if you possesed it as a complete weapon or in a kit with the other parts... if you possesed a lower by itself you could not assemble it into a configuration that would fall under the ban. |
