You chose wisely, I have three Omega's. I have a very similar Chrono to yours except it is the America's Cup version. Make sure you get it inspected on a regular basis, my Sea Master Chrono is in need of just over a Grand worth of work to restore it

My favorite watch company is Sinn. Check out watchbuys.com.

I have a U1 and a 103. Both outstanding automatic watches for great prices. They have several nice dress watches that will be perfect for you.

holy crap, it's not like you're peeling the damn thing open and modifying the internals - what goes wrong on a $4,000 watch?

That's a house mortgage right there.

Pateks are for the truly wealthy and make Rolex look like Timex cheap.

Reading this from the Work Order from Omega:

Complete Maintenance($685)
New Hands (no charge)
New Dial($178)
the luminous material is cracked and flaking, needs to be replaced to prevent material from getting into the movement
New Rotor($223) Rotor is out of tolerance and has low amplitude. The bearing is very worn causing uneven rotation. Uneven rotation is wearing on the case back
They gave me the option for a new bezel($261) and a new crystal($208) as well.
They did disassemble it to get these figures.
Now I will say that it is twelve years old and I did beat the snot out of it but it.  They did tell me that when they return it to me that it will look brand new again.

indeed patek phillipe.

was in an 'upscale' jewelry shop in aspen and the girl made a point of mentioning that they didnt carry mass produced watches like rolexes.

wanna make a true watch statement? patek phillipe is one way to do so. some of their watches retail at more than .5 mill.. 500,000.00. thats a lot of money .

this one is nice..

buy it on amazon for 245,000.00

but this one is a bit more.. exclusive... your cost, 1,300,000.00

Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon (5002R / RG)

It is much cheaper for a local jewler to do the service, but I would prefer the Omega factory service, because they basically restore it to a new watch.

The recommended service interval is 5 years on the regular automatics and 7 years for the Coaxials if you wear them everyday.  If you don't stick with the service interval, things probably get so worn out that a substantial rebuild is needed.

I still have five years to go on my first Omega.  They are indeed beautiful watches.  I'm always finding myself looking at mine whenever it catches my eye while waiting at a stoplight or something.

You really don't want to do this. They may be a jeweler, but they're probably not a watchmaker. And even if they were, they're not one who knows the ins and outs of every movement.

Nesbits seems to be the repair shop of choice on TZ, and they supposedly are much cheaper then Omega.  Might want to give them a shout:

Just got off the phone with the folks at Nesbits, they are certified to do the overhual. In fact the rep that I spoke with said they they were one of eleven Omega Service Centers in the US. But Omega has gone to doing it all themselves now.  I gave him the info that Omega gave me and he said that they(Nesbits) would be in the same ball park to do the service.  One good thing for me I guess in this situation is that Nesbit's and Omega both are local to me.

Bidding on this one now.  But if you want a nice watch, it is the season for all of the reputable auction houses to do their higher end watch auctions.  Sometimes you can get a steal.

They also might not have the same equipment and tooling to properly take the watch apart and work on it without damaging or putting marks on it.  Equipment that can only be found at the watchmaker who made the thing.
