You joke, but I am a manager for a national private security contractor. In the DFW area we have at least one HOA that has issued an infrared monocular to us. They also run radar. They don't stop anyone, but they provide the LP of violators to the HOA management company.

The only thing worse than an hoa would be someone who does security for a hoa.

"429 willow street grass too long"
"914 maple street has a basketball hoop in driveway"
"736 oak street didn't have their trash cans in by 10pm"

I have kid toys scattered throughout the lawn. Much crab grass, and only mow every other week. I also have a basketball hoop in the driveway, sometimes leave a garbage can out overnight, and let my kids build a circular masonry fire pit without a permit or oversight.

Am I in trouble?
