So the other night my heeler, Willie Nelson, was raising hell outside and I went out to see what was up.
I had my Sig P938 with me.  It was useless for what I encountered.

Willie was racing around the house chasing a coyote with two others chasing him. I retrieved my shotgun and went back out only for the yotes to spot me and unass the area.

Fast forward to tonight....

The kitchen door was open and Willie was on the porch.  I heard him give a low growl, so I snatched up my 870 and slipped outside.
I tied the dog up and had a smoke and sipped my coffee.

20 minutes later Willie perks up, and a yote appears at the edge of the yard.

I knocked em down with 1 round and turned Willie loose.  Willie held the yote down while I delivered the coup de grace with my M7 bayonet.

60 yards Federal Flight Control #1 Buck:

Now it is illegal to hunt coyotes with buckshot in Oklahoma, however, it is perfectly legal for landowners to defend pets and livestock on their property by whatever safe means necessary..
I have cleared this with the local warden in the past and after the kill I called the county sheriff's dispatch line to let them know I shot, in case someone reports "shots fired".
My neighbors already know the drill.
The M7 was used to dispatch the animal so I wouldn't have to fire twice.

S&J Hardware.

It's part of my shotgun kit, because I normally hunt with Federal Vital Shock Heavyweight  Coyote BB.
That stuff is over $4 a round, so I want to dispatch them without wasting a shell.

This will be my first year to use it when I start hunting next month.

I broke a stock a couple of years ago on a yote's head after I ran my shotgun dry.  This will be a little more efficient.

I have a scabbard that holds my calls, knives and shells that I take to the field when I hunt.

I think it was here that I read the Coyotes will pretend to be playing with a pet dog, lure it out a ways, and then the remainder of the pack will swarm it. Around here I can hear them at night, but I have yet to see them at any hour.

With that bayonet on the shotgun do you have any problems when you fire off a shot shell?

And OUTFUCKINGSTANDING on the kill!!!!

You've managed to post something really cool and add something to my wishlist at the same time.

The wad probably holds the shot together for the first 7" as it leaves the barrel.

It's an 18.5" fixed mod tritium rifle sighted barrel.

The range was just a hair under 60 yards (59 yards per google earth).
That was quite a long poke.
I've patterned out to 45 yards with this load/gun combo with beachball or smaller patterns.  I was slightly hesitant at that range but the yote held still with a good frontal shot, so I took it.
It hammered him down and he never got back up, even though he still had life in him.
Willie was on him like a cheap suit!

Not at all.  Although I didn't put the pokey thing on there until after the shot last night, I did fire it off a couple weeks ago for a 30 yard test shot with the bayo fixed.

The shot stays with the flight control wad for a great distance.

I love this stuff!

My  hunting load is PHC120BB which is a high density BB Flight Control load.
It's the greatest thing since popcorn.

Thanks guys.

Sorry. Just stock photos.
The braid wrap was initially done to alter my cheekweld, as i was having POA/POI issues with the original bead sighted barrel.
The gun was patterning to the right of POA, so by slightly moving my cheekweld off the stock the problem was corrected.
It's a non issue now with rifle sights, but it is softer on my face under recoil so it stays.

It's a factory +2.
The clamp is Mesa Tactical and the bayo mount is from S&J Hardware.
