| I hope the wife of my wife's cousin can fuck really well because she can't cook for shit. |
I have made about 4 like that.... awesome. Still snacking away. It's just me and this turkey and the dogs. We are making good progress. |

My German neighbors LOVED the turkey and stuffing. They had no idea why we were throwing a party, but they loved the food. It's weird to think that thanksgiving is strictly an American holiday. When we told them the story about the pilgrims and the Indians, they kind of understood but since they don't have anything like that in their history, it was basically just an excuse for them to get drunk and eat American food. Oh well, it turned out good. * end of thread hijack* |
Ask them about BlitzKriegen Tag..... It's where they get smashed on brews and brats. Then they usually pick someone to be "the French guy" "the Pole" and "the Czech" It gets wild after that! |
Actually, they REALLY don't like to talk about anything having to do with WWII. It's very taboo for them. Around here at least. About 3 weeks ago, they found a mass grave full of jews about 20 miles from here. I heard about it on AFN, but there was NO mention of it in the German news. ETA: Post number 911, and I'm talking about mass murder. Creepy.

We do Thanksgiving in Canada, too, just earlier in the year... |
Really? Does it come from the same event, or is there something different in Canadian history? |
Yeah I know, lived in Europe most of my life, we used to visit Germany sometimes, lived in Geneva and used to make PX runs to Heidelberg and Ramstein, they are touchy about that stuff big time! I visited Auschwitz, very sobering stuff. (thats in Poland though) |
Lived there too, in Ottawa! Went to St Pius in Nepean. Canuck turkey day is is in October if I recall correctly. |
